Position Overview:

The Director of Communications position requires exceptional project management and strategic thinking skills, as well as experience preparing communications and presentations for the organization and the CEO for both internal and external public affairs.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop communications, media, and engagement strategies with measurable results 
  • Maintain communication tools, including website, social media, press and public relations, internal bi-monthly newsletter 
  • Provide communications support to the CEO including drafting emails, reports, memos, and presentations 
  • Ensure the CEO is prepared with talking points when meeting with potential donors and Board members 
  • Manage external relationships with decision makers, influencers, partners, and other stakeholders to support organizational goals and objectives 
  • Analyze, develop, and advocate for Northwestern Settlement programs

Ideal Skills/Traits:

  • Confident and clear presenter and speaker 
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in public policy, communications, or related field preferred 
  • 10 or more years relevant experience in policy, advocacy, and communications
