We are looking for an experienced, hands-on communications professional to lead our internal and external communications and media relations efforts. In this role you’ll work across all our different businesses and have genuine opportunities to impact the firm and shape the reputation of our business while reinforcing a growing, thriving culture. You will also partner with the senior leadership team to understand and express theirvision, andincrease engagement with and awareness of PEAK6 among employees and within the marketplace.

Our marketing and communication team includes world-class strategists,creatives, technologists and communication makers. We’re agile, and we create great work for our portfolio of brands.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading a small, highly effective communications team while cultivating critical skills and behaviors. The communications team has the support of the marketing organization.
  • Establishing tone and voice for PEAK6 and key executives that is consistent across properties, including internal comms, public and intranet sites, collateral, social media
  • Creating and maintaining communications/editorial calendar(s) that ensure optimal mix of topics and frequency by business, theme and spokesperson
  • Providing internal and employee comms support for PEAK6 and portfolio companies, as needed, including deal comms support to strategic capital division
  • Developing strategy for intranet site, The Lodge, and work with internal stakeholders and core businesses to execute
  • Partnering with retained PR agency on strategy and tactics; attend weekly status meetings for PEAK6 and Apex and provide input on topical themes for outbound pitching and bylined opportunities
  • Guiding development of long- and short-form original content for PEAK6 and key executives
  • Working selectively with freelance writers on complex content projects such as books, whitepapers, research reports
  • Evaluating social media presence and recommend ways to increase impact and expand footprint
  • Collaborating with creative services and marketing teams at other PEAK6 businesses on multi-channel marketing programs across content development, public relations, digital and email marketing, events, social media, etc.
  • Collaborating with marketing teams at other PEAK6 businesses to share resources, identify best practices and find efficiencies in the spirit of ‘One PEAK6’
  • Helping manage and maintain digital, print and communication content for the firm

You’ll gain load of experience in this role but before you do, you should have:

  • 8+ years of relevant communications experience 
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field 
  • A demonstrated ability to think strategically and tactically about our business needs 
  • An ambitious and proactive mentality, gets things done rather than relying solely on others to get things done 
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written content across a variety of formats (e.g., print, web media, presentations, videos) 
  • Demonstrated skill translating business strategies into comprehensive corporate communication strategies, along with ability to develop clear, simple and consistent messages and themes from complex subject matter 
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and collaborate with multiple, diverse stakeholders simultaneously 
  • A detailed understanding of media relations and content marketing 
  • Knowledge of employee engagement and communications trends and best practices 
  • Experience acting as advisor on company reputation, values and culture combined with ability to anticipate impact of company actions on corporate reputation 
  • Experience working with reporters and in deadline-oriented environments a bonus
