Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Development is the key strategist for all fund development, marketing, promotions and communications for St Ann Center (SAC). The Director of Development, in partnership with the CEO, Executive Team and Board of Directors, will successfully attract and maintain new resources and revenue streams to the organization, leverage current donors and grants, and build and recover past relationships. This position will ensure achievement of annual and multi-year fundraising goals and objectives, according to the priorities established by the Board of Directors and will develop meaningful plan(s), strategies, tactics and processes that enhance the ability to raise philanthropic funds.

Fund Development

  • Create and implement a strategic fund development plan to support ongoing and new program initiatives to grow the annual fund and build endowment.
  • Seek new and innovative sources of funding including program grants, corporate donations, government contracts, private foundations, and individual donors. Assess fund development options and the continued viability of existing fund development, special events and strategies based on trends and conditions in the environment and the vision and values of SAC.
  • Prepare an annual fund development budget for SAC, monitor performance and report progress to the Board, Executive Team, Stakeholders, and other parties.
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit new donors and match donors with SAC programs, emphasizing unrestricted funding opportunities.
  • Oversee planning and execution of annual fund-raising events.
  • Research and write grant proposals in coordination with the Grant Manager, provide periodic updates as required by grantors.
  • Establish strong working relationships with local funders and oversee implementation and management of donor and grants records management system by setting and enforcing standards and controls.

Marketing and Communication

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to advance our public profile to increase community awareness of SAC services.
  • Represents SAC and our perspective issues affecting those we serve within community groups, foundations, government funders and the media.
  • Actively network with colleagues in related agencies and professional organizations.
  • Oversee all advertisements, marketing materials, including annual report, website development and maintenance, and all other communications to the public.

Leadership

  • Acts as a staff liaison to relevant committees of the Board.
  • Serves as a professional advisor to the CEO and Board in all areas of fund development, marketing and communications.

General

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, access to reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance coverage throughout employment.
  • Accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check with the Wisconsin Department of Justice and a caregiver background check with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the Department of Children and Families and the Department Safety and Professional Services and may be required to complete a Federal Fingerprint ID check in accordance with our program requirements.
  • Candidates must pass a Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender and Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry screening.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in business, communication, or other relative field required with a minimum of 5 years of experience in fund development and communications.
  • CFRE designation preferred.
  • Proven track record in fund development, including major gift development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fund raising, including major donors, capital campaigns, endowments. Special events, annual campaigns, prospect research, planned/legacy giving and donor tracking systems.
  • Experience in major donor cultivation and solicitation.
  • Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Suite, donor databases, fundraising software, social media platforms, digital media, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, writing, speaking and presentation skills.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
