Real Racine

Real Racine is a 501c(6) private non-profit corporation whose primary emphasis is promotion of tourism in Racine County. It was incorporated in March, 1983 and is not affiliated with Racine County. The Real Racine Sports and Events Commission is a 501c(3) private not-for-profit organization and was incorporated in July, 2019.  

The organizations are funded in large part by a portion of the 8% room tax that is collected on all lodging stays of less than thirty days by properties in Racine, Caledonia, Sturtevant, Yorkville, Burlington and Waterford.

It is governed by a 19 member board of directors.

Currently there are four full time and three part time employees. This is supplemented by approximately five volunteers.

Real Racine is the only local tourism organization that is accredited by both Destinations International and Destinations Wisconsin.

The Director of Digital Marketing will administer Real Racine’s social media marketing and digital advertising programs.

  • Monitor and grow Real Racine’s online presence through its website and social media channels oSocial media channels include (but not limited to) Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest.
  • Oversee marketing and promotion of Bureau’s web site - realracine.com. Work with web provider to ensure that information and links to/from page are updated in a timely manner.
  • Develop, write and update seasonal blog posts on website. Develop and implement an annual social media marketing plan.
  • Measure and analyze the key performance indicators to determine return on investment, and report metrics to board of directors and key stakeholders.
  • Develop relevant content topics to reach our target customers.
  • Create, curate, and manage all published content.
  • Monitor, listen and respond to users in a “Social” way while cultivating leads.
  • Conduct online advocacy and open a stream for cross-promotions.
  • Oversee graphic design elements on social media channels, website.
  • Develop and distribute monthly e-newsletter
  • Travel unassisted to industry tradeshows, meetings, and events.
  • Assist the President/CEO in marketing the Bureau and the community.
  • Represent Racine County in a professional manner.
  • Reports to the President/CEO. Undertakes other responsibilities as may be assigned.
  • Has authority to sign contracts and commit the bureau to monetary expenditures. Deals with confidential and sensitive information. Is responsible for establishment of policy and administration.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • a minimum of an associate degree in marketing or communications, or commensurate experience
  • a positive, can-do attitude
  • excellent written and oral skills.
  • a high degree of motivation and creativity.
  • working knowledge of Adobe Software (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) a plus
  • working knowledge of photography, videography, and editing a plus
  • strong project management skills with a great attention to detail
  • the ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, push, pull, lift and carry objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • the ability to work occasionally on evenings and weekends.
  • the ability to creatively solve problems and manage multiple projects
  • the ability to work independently and under pressure and make quick educated decisions in compliance with company policies.
