Director of Digital Strategy and Operations
Southeast Wisconsin
Milwaukee, WI

Mueller Communications, a well-established and highly regarded marketing, communications, and creative firm, is looking to add a Director of Digital Strategy & Operations to its talented team.

This valuable team member will be a leader in client strategy and management as well as internal operations excellence. They will work closely with the executive team to build and implement process that supports the continued growth of the firm. They will also lead key client teams and aid in the development of staff.

Mueller Communications’ clients have high expectations and we are looking for another A-player to join us in exceeding those expectations. We take a collaborative problem-solving approach and this position is ideal for someone who enjoys being part of and leading close-knit teams and is looking to grow themselves and others through mentorship and challenging client work.


Project Management & Operations (Internal)

  • Lead efforts to evaluate, optimize, and document Mueller’s platforms, project management and fulfillment processes; 
  • Oversee and work with channel owners to maximize efficiency, resiliency, and excellence; 
  • Present and train on digital and operational fundamentals and improvements as needed; 
  • Manage internal & external resources to deliver services for clients; and 
  • Demonstrate initiative to troubleshoot and strategically problem solve issues that hamper efficiency, resiliency, or excellence.

Staff Leadership and Development (Internal)

  • Demonstrate ability to lead and motivate teams to produce outcomes that exceed client expectations on time and within budget; 
  • Play a leadership role in talent cultivation, identifying team members with specific skill sets and placing them on teams that best leverage their skills; and 
  • Coach and mentor client team members to become stronger agency professionals.

Client Management (External)

  • Manage, build relationships with, and be a primary contact for multiple key clients; 
  • Establish yourself as a go-to strategic resource and driver with the ability to orchestrate execution that delivers exceptional results; and 
  • Lead or co-lead client meetings to maintain healthy and regular communication with all stakeholders.

Business Development | Entrepreneurial Mindset

  • Work with VP of Digital to identify and pursue new business prospects; 
  • Lead client intake for marketing needs and oversee the proposal and pitching process; and
  • Identify industry trends and insights to be leveraged in both work delivery and business development.

Fulfillment & Performance Management

  • Coordinate with clients and campaign analysts to establish goals and KPIs that are meaningful representations of success; 
  • Guide strategic direction in the following channels through analysis of competition, evolving best practices, and market conditions: 
  • Paid ads (SEM, social, programmatic) 
  • SEO Email/Marketing automation 
  • Website & ecommerce development 
  • Ensure the optimization of delivery for the platforms above either through collaboration with channel-specific staff, or leveraging your individual skillset in digital campaign execution; 
  • Manage client reporting platforms & data humanization with the support of channel owners; and 
  • Work with campaign analysts to ensure performance reporting is precise and illustrates outcomes in digestible actionable ways that align with client goals.

  • Extensive experience in client-facing communications roles with strong track record of building long-tenured relationships that deliver on shared goals; 
  • In-depth knowledge of different digital marketing channels with a track record of activating effective multi-channel campaigns; 
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to provide insight with a common sense touch; 
  • Proven ability to connect and build relationships with team members that aids in their professional development; 
  • Excellent project management skills with successful record of working on multiple time-sensitive projects at once, delivering on time and on budget; 
  • Ability to defend decisions based on established strategies to both internal teams and clients; 
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills; and 
  • In-office presence 3+ days per week.
