JOB SUMMARY:

The primary role of the Director Donor Engagement and Marketing is to implement a comprehensive donor engagement and fundraising program, as well as, the overall marketing and communication strategy for the agency.  The Director of Donor Engagement & Marketing is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans as it relates to increasing and diversifying philanthropic funding from individual, corporate, foundation and government sources.  The role is also responsible for ensuring the agency’s internal and external communications provide for a consistent message, in-line with branding, marketing, and developmental efforts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Donor Relations / Fundraising:

  • Lead the team (Annual Giving Coordinator / Major Gifts Coordinator / Marketing Specialist) in all areas of gift cultivation, solicitation and fundraising efforts including but not limited to annual appeals, corporate support, major and planned giving, endowed giving, special events, special gifting campaigns, capital giving, and in-kind support – with annual unrestricted fundraising to exceed $1.5 million.
  • Promote involvement of businesses, other organizations, and individuals and families to support the agency and special events for the benefit of the agency.
  • Lead all facets of donor relationships and engagement with donor base; develop and implement strategies for donor growth, education, engagement, renewal, and retention.
  • Compile, maintain and report on giving statistics including per donor gift, churn, participation, etc.
  • Analyze donation trends, identifying opportunities and challenges and developing strategies to analyze the effectiveness and ensure goals are met.
  • Manage grant research and writing process, with assistance from Department Leaders.  Conduct research and analysis regarding foundations and trusts.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate gift processing, gift acknowledgment, donor recognition and collection of un-paid donor commitments.
  • Responsible for donor CRM software, to include completing all data updates, following and enhancing “best practices,” working closely with the Finance Team for accurate financial reconciliation, entering telethon pledges and corresponding follow-up, and completing an annual evaluation of the software.  
  • Take the lead in planning the Telethon weekend - soliciting various levels of sponsors, coordinating VIPs, streamlining processes, and engaging third party events and non-sponsor organizations.
  • Oversee the operations for all CP and non-CP sponsored events to include internal/external committees & meetings, budgets, etc. 
  • Build collaborative relationships with vendors/suppliers.  Work to negotiate and leverage multiple event volumes to maintain a strong department budget. 

Marketing/Communications:

  • Lead the team (Marketing Specialist) to develop, communicate, and execute Communications strategic plan.
  • Act as the organization’s representative with the media, to include coordinating press releases, advertising of all mediums, and public relations activities.
  • Create and implement outreach strategies for increased public awareness and growth at additional locations.
  • Help ensure the organization’s mission and vision are pertinent and practiced throughout the organization. 
  • Oversight of CP’s website and social media content.
  • Oversight of all design, copyright and inventory of agency business communication documentation – newsletters, mailings, letterhead, envelopes, inserts, cards, posters, postcards, and event collateral.
  • Approve and coordinate the schedule for updates to internal digital signage and the outside sign.
  • Coordinate all external speaking arrangements/presentations.
  • Solicit RFP’s and/or quotes for marketing and advertising, may also do some design work.
  • Responsible for photography and video coverage of CP events, daily activities, and Telethon.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related field required.
  • Three-Five years demonstrated experience in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Fundraising, Business, and/or special event planning preferred.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office, Outlook, Publisher, Adobe Creative Suite, and Donor CRM software preferred.  
  • Proven ability to take initiative and actively seek to deepen current donor relationships and forge new ones.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to manage public speaking/presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated sound judgment skills.
  • Strong ability to maintain poise and confidence during negotiations and events.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to create powerful, compelling communications for fundraising.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Successful completion of background check and drug screen.
