History:

At the turn of the twentieth century, the Balistreri Family of Santa Elia, Sicily immigrated to the United States and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The family began peddling quality fruits and vegetables by horse drawn wagon on the northeast side of the city. In 1975, the store expanded to include groceries, meat, deli, dairy, bakery, and wine and spirits. During this time of growth the store’s reputation for quality products and customer service grew drawing customers from all over Milwaukee and surrounding communities

For four generations, Sendik's has been the source of quality food products and the finest produce available in Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin.

Sendik's Food Markets is a family owned, multi-location, rapidly growing business with an opportunity for a Director of Marketing and Communications. The purpose of this role is to grow Sendik's Food Markets' sales and profit.

Director of Marketing and Communications:

Responsible for the strategic development and execution of integrated marketing, advertising, and public relations strategies for Sendik's Food Market's.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Proactively develop and execute holistic, integrated, multi-phased advertising, marketing and public relations strategies with measurable results.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with all departments and throughout the leadership of the organization to align marketing strategies that support corporate initiatives.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with external and internal constituents, to include: consumers, media, suppliers, vendors, associates, management, community leaders, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop digital and social media strategies that support all corporate initiatives.
  • Develop and manage a Marketing and Communications budget.

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong media contacts in new and existing communities to drive positive coverage for the Sendik's brand.
  • Manage staff and internally communicate for all activities relating to Sendik's programs.
  • Develop and execute multi-platform advertising campaigns.
  • Implement and execute social media strategies and maintain SEO.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Manage direct reports, systems, and projects to achieve unit goals in accordance with company polices and practices.
  • Provide leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise.
  • Create an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications.
  • Develop staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments, and establishing performance and development plans.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Public Relations, or a similar field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience and demonstrated effectiveness in public relations and marketing.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs involving multiple components in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Superior communication skills, including written and verbal.
  • Superior print, broadcast and online media relations.
  • Must demonstrate extensive experience with broad-based strategy development and execution.
  • Proven ability to execute effective multi-media campaigns.
