The Director of Marketing, Development, & Brand Strategy is responsible for the strategic leadership and growth of Goodwill’s reputation and position as a desired business partner which include retail, residential, and mission programs. The Director leads marketing, development, and brand initiatives to support our mission and strategic goals. This individual is responsible for programs, and projects in support of the organization’s overall marketing and business development objectives. This critical role assesses marketing needs and develops plans to create market differentiation while expanding our brand for the South Central Wisconsin region.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Guide internal and external message strategies to inspire and educate stakeholders and the broader community to engage with and support Goodwill SCWI. 
  • Oversee all marketing team (staff and vendors) activities and mediums, including social media, website, customer communications, paid advertising, internal communications, media relations and crisis communications. 
  • Partner with leadership team and functional area managers to create strategies and implement tactics that support business goals. 
  • Create and manage strategies for fund development; identify opportunities for individual and corporate gifts. 
  • Participate in organizational planning sessions regarding major program changes, additions, or deletions to help identify potential brand or operational impacts. 
  • Assist the leadership and board in identifying and pursuing new and growth opportunities for business, organization or individual partnerships that would further the mission of Goodwill SCWI. 
  • Drive the use of available data and news re trends, community topics, customer profiles, etc. to help direct and inform organizational programs and activities. 
  • Partner with leadership and team to map and implement change management strategies to support organizational growth and communications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Be a steward of our brand, ensuring all channels execute content in alignment with brand vision and standards. 
  • Understands key business issues and their connectivity to broader brand implications and/or organizational initiatives and activities. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to lead dialogue with diverse subject matter experts. 
  • Exemplarily people leadership skills and talent management mindset. Maintain thorough knowledge of trends in the media, technology, and market research industries. 
  • Ability to develop and implement marketing plans, evaluating segment database information and market via multiple channels.

Required education and/or work experience:

  • 10+ years Marketing, business development and/or brand strategy experience is preferred.
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field required.
  •  Experience growing a brand/company from early-stage to strong market presence and significant revenue is a plus. 
  • At least ten years of related experience is required.
