Are you looking to grow your marketing career with a growing company? TDS Telecom is actively seeking a Director of Marketing to lead our marketing team in our corporate office at 525 Junction Rd. Madison, WI 53717!

As the Director of Marketing with TDS Telecom, you will be responsible for the strategic direction of all customer acquisitions, retention, and revenue generating marketing activities in the both the consumer and commercial segments. This responsibility includes managing marketing programs designed to attract and retain profitable customers in all markets including mass media, targeted advertising, social media, alternative sales channels, local marketing initiatives, online marketing, customer retention and loyalty, and winback initiatives. You will be responsible for managing the brand, company image, and local presence for all TDS-owned operations for the consumer and commercial segments. In addition, you will also be responsible for all marketing strategy and execution in new overbuild, new markets, including brand awareness marketing and pre-sales marketing. You will act as a consultant on any creative project that may be completed by Creative Services for internal clients such as our Human Resources and Government Regulatory Affairs groups.

You will manage and direct several teams critical to executing TDS’s marketing strategy:

  • The Marketing team which executes online and offline marketing campaigns to achieve sales and revenue targets. This team is responsible for development of marketing campaigns to attract and acquire profitable customers, promote customer retention, and win back customers from competitors. 
  • The Field Marketing team which is responsible for managing TDS’s local presence in the commercial and consumer segments including event marketing, sponsorships, MDU/developer relationships. 
  • The Customer Communications and Experience team which is responsible for customer communications, customer experience, customer loyalty and sales readiness. 
  • The Creative Services team which is responsible for the development of the creative work for television, radio, outdoor, and direct response marketing as well as product support collateral. 
  • The Digital Operations team which is responsible for designing, maintaining, and enhancing TDS’s web presence for the commercial and consumer segments.

Responsibilities:

As TDS Telecom's Director of Marketing, you will lead the strategy and implementation of all consumer and commercial advertising activities for cable and wireline, including new OOT markets. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Developing, implementing, and managing marketing campaigns to attract and acquire profitable customers, promote customer retention, and win back customers from competitors. 
  • Developing marketing expense budgets and forecasts for all business units. 
  • Establishing goals and analyzing marketing programs to measure effectiveness. 
  • Identifying new ways to reach target markets and influence response. 
  • Partnering with Product Management and Sales to ensure maximum market impact is achieved when introducing new products or promotions. 
  • Building and maintaining strong community relationships and partnerships. 
  • Leading new product marketing initiatives and building strong execution plans for new market rollouts. 
  • Maintaining a solid understanding of the business, brands, markets, customers, as well as industry and competitive trends, developments, intelligence, etc. 
  • Ensuring optimization of our digital experiences to generate demand and maximize sales.

You will also lead and direct the development and execution of TDS’ customer experience strategy. This includes:

  • Development of communication plans for strategic company initiates and product changes or enhancements that are customer impacting. 
  • Developing processes to improve the customer experience, increase sales and improve the mix of products sold, increase customer loyalty. 
  • Development and implementation of customer nurturing programs to increase loyalty and longevity. 
  • Ensuring that TDS sales channels are equipped to sell all applicable products and services. 
  • Ensuring optimization of our digital experience as it relates to customer self-service. 
  • Provide creative direction to internal and external creative and digital operations teams related to the design and development of marketing and communication campaigns for the Consumer and Commercial segments as well as creative projects for Government Regulatory Affairs and Human Resources. 
  • Manage the brand and image for all TDS-owned operations in cable and wireline markets. 
  • Provide ongoing support and input on marketing and product strategy for new products, Product Management initiatives, and strategic planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) OR 4+ years professional work experience. 
  • 10+ years experience in marketing, sales, product marketing, or strategic planning. 
  • 5+ years management/supervisory experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA) preferred. 
  • Competitive telecommunications industry experience. 
  • Strong strategic planning skills with experience in customer acquisition and retention. 
  • Ability to plan and execute exciting sales and marketing programs that will produce revenue and results. 
  • Ability to analyze sales programs for success, profitability and customer loyalty and satisfaction of product or service purchased. 
  • Previous management and supervisory experience. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, follow-through, and attention to detail. 
  • Knowledge of up-to-date telecommunications policies, standard practices, laws, regulations and proposed changes and the ability to apply them consistently. 
  • Strong computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred). 
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work with employees at all levels.
