The Director of Marketing leads one of Wisconsin’s most iconic and recognizable brands - Travel Wisconsin – alongside the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Working in tandem with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s executive team and CMO, this position brings the WDT’s vision to life through effective implementation, vendor management and leading a high-performance consumer marketing team.
The Director of Marketing will play a pivotal role overseeing the formulation and implementation of the Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s consumer insight driven brand through our digital and traditional content marketing strategies and creative asset maintenance and development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of directing and managing marketing vendors to implement and deliver compelling marketing products and provide effective budget management oversight and decisions. They will possess a management style that maximizes the strengths and skills of a mission-driven marketing team, proven track record of interdepartmental collaboration, policy, program and budget management expertise, and strategic brand and marketing expertise.
The position manages a multi-million-dollar marketing budget and a team of marketing professionals. This role establishes and implements program objectives and standards for their team and for the vendors, suppliers, and marketing partnerships they oversee that support the Department of Tourism’s strategic goals. The Marketing Director maximizes marketing dollars to ensure the agency’s resources yield a strong return on investment.
This position is headquartered out of the Madison office and will have the option of working remotely up to 90%. The position infrequently requires some evening and weekend travel. This schedule may change based on training or operational needs. Employees will be required to come into the office for in-person collaboration meetings often occurring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Employees will be required to report to the Madison office on their first day of employment, and work in the office two days per week for the first three months of employment. High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.
