The School District of Waukesha seeks an outstanding progress-focused leader committed to positive results to lead as the DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATION. The successful candidate must be committed to implementing best practice communication strategies to effectively inform, listen to, and engage internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate must have earned a bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or journalism, as well as prior experience in the development and implementation of communication and marketing programs. Experience serving public sector organizations in a communications leadership capacity is preferred.

The successful candidate shall have these additional leadership qualities for goal implementation:

  • Extensive knowledge of innovative communication methods and strategies;
  • Advanced technical skills including development of communications strategies around social media and video production;
  • Commitment to developing and maintaining a media relations program, acting as District spokesman for local media, press released, media briefings, promotion of school activities, and other communication as appropriate;
  • Interpersonal skills that promote collaboration, professionalism, and relationship building with the community, parent/teacher organizations, and other key District partners;
  • Leadership to support clear communication through a variety of meeting modes with various stakeholders.

This position is a year round position, compensated commensurate with experience, and will report to superintendent. A generous benefits plan, including pension, vacation and sick leave.
