What you will do:

He/she will lead the development of all media materials including press releases, Q&As, website content, executive talking points, fact sheets, etc., in collaboration with external agency partners and JCI colleagues and stakeholders.

How you will do it:

  • Recommend external opportunities including media interviews, speaking engagements at industry conferences and other forums to showcase JCI thought leadership, messages, and SMEs. 
  • Develop and advance the strategy and voice for C-suite and executive communications, including speaking engagements and media interviews. 
  • Prepare company spokespeople for media interviews and other engagements, including training spokespeople and ensuring that JCI’s most frequent spokespeople are prepared to address key issues as they emerge. 
  • Develop and own effective Public Relations (PR) plan for crisis situations. 
  • Serve as point person on media interactions to manage crisis communications, mitigate negative impact and reinforce JCI’s core messages. 
  • Create playbook of PR standards, best practices and templates that regional colleagues can leverage. 
  • Identify core metrics, establish measurement plan, track progress and articulate ROI on media activities. 
  • Lead and mentor a team using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis and promoting a culture of diversity and inclusiveness, high performance, and learning.

What we look for:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 
  • 10+ years of experience in one or both of the following: a) Leading a communications practice or major client in a corporate or agency setting and b) Leading a communications function on a political campaign or in government. 
  • Experience working with C-suite executives. 
  • Experience in managing a team and/or external communication agencies. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Creative and thoughtful on how new media technologies can be utilized. 
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills and experience operating successfully in a global, matrixed environment with high-performing teams across groups and at multiple levels. 
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills. 
  • Willingness to help set strategy, as well as execute. 
  • A proven ability to think internationally, and able to adapt and flex the message and delivery accordingly, as well as to understand the varied needs of the local teams. 
  • Experience measuring the impact and ROI of communications activities. 
  • Experience with crisis communications and operating with "calm under fire".

Preferred:

  • Master's degree a plus (Journalism, Communication, English, Business).
