Our Product Marketing team is critical to achieving this goal. We are looking for a Director, Product Marketing for our Enterprise Wealth Management Software Product Marketing team. This leader deeply understands how important it is for financial professionals to engage with their clients to demonstrate decisions and trade-offs and provide the behavioral coaching needed to establish and retain positive habits to support their client households. He/she can translate the sophisticated technical capabilities of our software capabilities that can span our branded Software Solutions (Advisor Workstation) or our low code and no code Digital Components (EC) and API tools into clear benefits for Enterprises, their financial advisors and the clients they serve.

The individuals in this group transform our high-quality data, independent research, and technological expertise into well-designed software products that delight our clients. The group’s product management, product development, and Client Success service teams collaborate with our Sales, Client Solutions group to help provide clients with relevant products and bundled solutions.

The Role:

Morningstar’s Enterprise Wealth Management group is looking for a seasoned Director of Product Marketing that would span our Software solutions that include Advisor Workstation (AWS), Digital Components (EC) and API solutions, respectively. We are looking for an assertive, detail-oriented, self-starter who can work effectively in a highly collaborative team setting. You will coordinate, manage, and execute cross-functional and cross-region projects that reduce friction, increase quality, drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and improve decision-making in the group. The role leads and collaborates with our product management, sales, and service teams. You will collaborate with marketing managers to develop, execute, and optimize multi-channel campaigns to launch new products, drive demand, generate leads, and influence sales pipeline for new prospects as well as existing clients. You will have an opportunity to extend product marketing teams in the US, Canada, and United Kingdom in support of our growth targets. Impact will be measured by client retention, client satisfaction (NPS), increased sales pipeline and closed business conversion rates globally, shortened sales cycles, and market share growth over time. This role reports to the GM, Head of Enterprise Wealth Management Software Products, and is a member of the leadership team within Enterprise Wealth Management Software Products.

Responsibilities:

  • Crafting and executing the go-to-market strategy, positioning, messaging, service enablement, and sales enablement to deliver business growth, which includes retaining existing clients and attracting new clients.
  • Go-to-market strategy Awareness Marketing for AWS, which includes communicating with our existing 150,000 community member users to improve client satisfaction (NPS) and client retention
  • Crafting and executing the go-to-market strategy how we upgrade our 150,000 community member users to our new platform (AWS 3.0) starting in 2021
  • Crafting and executing the go-to-market strategy our digital delivery choice Digital Components (EC) and API solutions, which includes our Developer Site used in the sales and client service process
  • Crafting and executing the go-to-market strategy and Awareness Marketing for Annuity Intelligence
  • Coordinate continuous user research to validate the market problems to solve, through regular user research groups. Partner with our market research and product management teams to develop the research agenda for ascertaining gaps in the market, helping to drive new product development, packaging, pricing, positioning, and messaging.
  • Lead our go-to-market strategy for our new Mobile Solutions launching in North America in 3Q 2020
  • Deeply understand our buyers and the investor clients they serve.
  • Craft the segmentation, positioning, messaging, and competitive analysis for successful go-to-market plans.
  • Lead one direct report but also coach cross-functional teams focused on bringing new products to market and expanding existing businesses.
  • Collaborate with marketing managers, product, sales, and support teams to design, execute, and optimize multi-channel marketing campaigns to generate demand and drive new client acquisition as well as expansion opportunities with existing client accounts.
  • Develop sales enablement and client-facing assets to clearly define the benefits of Morningstar’s software portfolio for financial advisors, globally.
  • Interact with clients in the development of testimonials and other materials to support marketing programs and enrich sales materials.
  • Collaborate with our business analysts to measure, analyze, and report on the success of product marketing programs monthly, quarterly, and as requested with executive stakeholders to identify opportunities to continuously improve our outcomes relative to our goals.
  • 7+ years of product marketing experience in SaaS or software/technology firms. Experience in financial services technology is a plus.
  • Track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams to develop and execute go-to-market strategies and multi-channel marketing programs helping coach them to their full potential and driving a spirit of continuous improvement.
  • Excellent presentation skills to all types of audiences, including executive leadership, clients, and partners.
  • Must be data-driven and understand how to translate marketing metrics into opportunities for action.
  • Self-starter and passion for “doing the impossible;” committed to testing, learning, and iterating.
  • Previous experience partnering closely with sales teams to deliver sales enablement assets/training and having accountability for influencing sales pipeline development and participating in client engagements.
  • Experience developing, delivering, and optimizing annual and multi-year strategic marketing plans and accompanying budgets.
  • Certifications and/or experience working in an Agile environment and using Jira, Eloqua, Adobe Experience Manager, Tableau, Google Analytics, On24, wikis, and Yammer, or similar.
