This role works collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders, partnering closely with the Vice President’s office and campus partners. (S)he brings a high level of attention to detail and is responsible for actively managing the engagement and stewardship of contributors who have the deepest level of commitment to the university – not only to preserve the current state but also actively improving and enhancing it for the future through thoughtful proactive plans to maximize impact. (S)he will further elevate the donor experience for the university’s highest-level contributors and support the continuous flow of individuals through the donor cycle, contributing to the achievement of our overall advancement goals.

  1. Stewardship Management and Tracking:
  • Actively manage the engagement and stewardship of donors with the deepest level of commitment to the university preserving the current state and actively improving and enhancing it for the future through thoughtful proactive plans to maximize impact.
  • Develop and implement a system for partnering with fundraising colleagues to create stewardship touchpoints demonstrating impact aligned with pledge reminders to support timely payments and fulfillment. Collaborate with prospect management and fundraising colleagues to identify donors approaching pledge completion ensuring strategic steps are in place to consistently move prospects through the donor cycle and execute additional solicitation opportunities.
  • Partner with the leader to understand and proactively track those close to certain giving thresholds (i.e., growing scholarship impact, reaching Founders Society level, total campaign giving).

2. Gift Agreement Execution and Campus Collaboration

  • Understand and lead on the execution of complicated gift agreements, working with the various offices and academic units, the President’s Office, and more. This includes coordination of meetings at the onset of the agreement, financial tracking, and the ability to understand nuanced and evolving situations.

3. Engagement Efforts:

  • Lead on engagement efforts around transformational donors, which include multi-faceted, multi-day campus visits at the highest levels

A minimum of 3 years of experience, along with a proven track record of strategic, entrepreneurial and creative success.

Demonstrated ability to thrive in a higher education culture that is results-oriented and fast paced.  S
trong project management, an ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and the ability to work within established deadlines across a complex organization. Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as budget oversight and management skills are essential. Close attention to detail and the ability to stay ahead of industry trends, particularly from a campaign stewardship perspective, is important. Commitment to Marquette’s character as an urban institution, its goals, mission, and Jesuit Catholic tradition. Excellent analytical and communication skills, including demonstrated experience of interpreting data to inform business practices. Proficiency with databases and in data analysis tools such as Excel or other data visualization tools. Ability to express information clearly and concisely, whether orally or in writing. Discretion and confidentiality.
