We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Donor Development Specialist for the recently opened Food + Farm Exploration Center located in Plover, WI. The Donor Development Specialist is integral to the overall success and smooth operations of fundraising at the Food + Farm Exploration Center. The specialist will work closely with the Donor Development and Marketing Director to implement strategies for growing donor relationships and support. This position will process donations, manage the donor database, prepare thank you letters and other mailings, track online giving, and work with the donor development and marketing team on special projects and events. The Donor Development Specialist is a creative, solutions-oriented, fearless support admin with a go-getter spirit. This position requires keen attention to detail, exceptional communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create a comprehensive strategy for managing all donor data in the database, including creating a gift entry process, reporting and prospect management.
  • Manage details for annual campaign, including creation of campaign materials, generating mailing list and working with team members on successful communication and launch of the campaign. 
  • Record and process gifts. 
  • Generate notification letters for gifts and pledge reminders in a timely manner. 
  • Assist with the coordination of an annual stewardship event. 
  • Assists the Donor Development and Marketing Director in the preparation of publications and mailings. 
  • Develop content, with support of marketing and communications team, to be used in donor publications. 
  • Available to work occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2+ years of fundraising/membership experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization, science/tech/museum, or relevant and transferable professional experience. 
  • Experience with annual appeals and special events a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with donor databases (QuickBooks and donor database software or Customer Relationship Management software Humanitru) a plus. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Teams.
  • Professional communication skills and phone manners, with a dedication to excellent customer service and donor satisfaction. 
  • Strong self-motivation, with the ability to work both independently and as a contributing team member. 
  • Solutions-oriented creative thinker and problem solver who navigates challenging situations with ease. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, amid changing priorities, with capacity to meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write persuasively in clear and concise language, and the ability to speak with enthusiasm to diverse audiences. 
  • Commitment to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion.

Exploration Center Commitments:

  • The annual salary range for this position starts at $40,000.
