Join our fun and friendly team of marketing and PR pros as we work together to change lives for the better! Nonprofit weight-loss and wellness company near Milwaukee airport seeks full-time Editorial Content Associate. We offer a collaborative atmosphere with a business casual dress code.

This is not a remote position: Working hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Editorial Content Associate promotes awareness of TOPS and forwards its mission by writing, editing and proofreading content for members, Field Staff and the public and by planning and coordinating outreach activities in cooperation with the Communications and Outreach team and other departments under the supervision of the Communications and Outreach Director.

Regular duties include:

  • Use AP Style and TOPS House Style guide to write, edit, and proofread articles and bonus content for our award-winning membership magazine. TOPS News Magazine is mailed to tens of thousands of members throughout the United States and Canada. 
  • As a member of the Editorial Board, collaborate on content and layout of TOPS News and Healthy & Active magazines. 
  • Coordinate member success stories for international conference and TOPS News magazine, including photos and success stories. 
  • Make recommendations for story treatments/packages and photo shoots to Editorial Board and communcations staff. 
  • Work with public relations vendor to facilitate stories and interviews that raise awareness of TOPS and its mission. 
  • Work with Marketing Manager on social media posts, updates and email marketing. Manage one or more social platforms. 
  • Coordinate participation in trade shows across the United States and Canada. Research relevant shows for C&O Director and Board review. Once approved, coordinate all aspects of participation in shows. 
  • Assist in fielding member, prospective member, healthcare and workplace inquiries. 
  • Follow up on Headquarters initiatives as directed by C&O Director, including educational and promotional publications. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements include:

  • Four-year degree in English, Journalism, Communications or similar area of study 
  • At least one year of relevant work experience 
  • Personal or professional interest in health and wellness 
  • Excellence in written, spoken, print and digital communication 
  • Ability to provide compassionate, professional customer service 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of AP Style preferred 
  • Knowledge of best practices for posting, promoting and advertising through one or more social platforms preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs, specifically InCopy, InDesign and Photoshop, is a bonus.
