The Bike Fed is seeking an Education and Outreach Programs Assistant to work in the Madison area. The Program Assistant reports to the Education and Engagement Program Manager. Ideal candidate exercises sound judgment and thrives in diverse work environments. They are also highly organized, outgoing, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

This position will begin as a work from home, and in the community, as the Bike Fed grows our Madison staff presence. In person training and events will be primarily outdoors and follow local and CDC guidelines for safety. 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach curriculum-based education classes in safe biking and walking practices. 
  • Lead groups of youth and families on neighborhood rides and walks 
  • Assist Programs Manager at events and trainings 
  • Lead basic Bike Repair and safe riding lessons, training available.

Qualifications:

  • Enjoy bicycling and be willing to bike to/for work and between 10 and 20+ miles a day
  • Excellent speaking and presentation skills 
  • Value working with diversity of people and team teaching methods 
  • Spanish speaking/writing beneficial, but not required 
  • Bicycle maintenance/mechanic skills beneficial, but not required 
  • MUST pass background check

Rate: Starts at $16/hour based on experience and skills. 5-35 hours a week, varies throughout the season. More hours in summer, less in winter. This program is currently funded for 2 years.
