Madison College is looking to hire an Employee Communications Specialist that will help create people-focused content to inform, involve and inspire our employee audiences.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS/DEADLINE:

This position will be opened until filled, with a first review date of November 3, 2022, at 11:59 pm. This is a full-time, exempt, 52-weeks position. Core office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, however, this position requires flexibility and is remote-friendly.

Some Duties/Responsibilities include:

  • Help develop and coordinate content strategy for Madison College's intranet (WolfNet), executive communications, project, and special initiative communications to ensure optimal employee experience.
  • Lead responsibility for Matters, our employee online news source. Initiate, plan content development (written, video and visual) and deliver employee news assets for WolfNet home page. Provide content oversight, assigning and mentoring student help to complete news reporting assignments. Ensure employees are informed in their work through timely, accurate news and information.
  • Edit others' copy and write content to adhere to Associated Press style, intranet best practices and standards for content development, equity, and accessibility. Edit or re-write copy; read and proof content for accuracy, style, and clarity, as assigned, by internal stakeholders. Provide clarity via consistent, accurate messaging.
  • Assure tone and voice are appropriate for employee communications channels. Target audiences to provide employees relevant information, through effective channels at the right time. Coordinate content to provide employee messages are in step with the college's mission, vision, values, and current strategic initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to tight deadlines and often including conflicting priorities.
  • Experience modifying content as needed to suit different audiences and channels.
  • Strong command of English language and Associated Press style. Attention to detail and maintaining high standards for quality and accuracy, including tone and voice as well as spelling and grammar.
  • Experience with or working knowledge of SharePoint intranet platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing or other closely related field or four years of an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.
  • Two (2) years (4000 hours) of progressive experience writing for a news outlet or in an organizational communications role.
  • Five (5) years (10,000 hours) of experience in communications, higher education, or related field preferred.
