Summary of Major Responsibilities:

The Employee Engagement Specialist supports initiatives that lead to positive impact in employee engagement and morale while aligning with business priorities and goals. This position supports the Employee Engagement Manager in the measurement and feedback mechanisms that capture the pulse of the employee sentiment on an ongoing basis, using various tools, methods and techniques. The Employee Engagement Specialist will collaborate across the organization, as a member of the Human Resources team, to develop and assist with implementation of initiatives that enrich the employee experience at Exact Sciences. This position also plays a key role in developing and delivering internal and external communications related to engagement, benefits, HR processes and talent acquisition to appropriate audiences.

Ideal candidates will be strong writers who have experience managing content and administering intranet or other internal communication platforms. Experience with large-scale and cross-functional engagement activities is also preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In alignment with business goals, support employee engagement initiatives that result in positive impact across the company and help differentiate Exact’s reputation as an employer of choice. 
  • Help develop, implement and maintain multiple modes to solicit and analyze employee feedback. Execute on initiatives to increase employment brand awareness both internally (i.e. inform employees about perks, benefits, activities, community service) and externally in partnership with the HR team (recruiting, HR business partners, etc.). 
  • Plan, author (or seek authors for) and coordinate internal communications regarding key employee processes, benefits, events and perks; liaise with the corporate communications team to ensure consistency and appropriate timing, source, method, etc.. 
  • Preparing and editing communications, presentations and other documents in support of engagement activities or other internal communications and arranging and coordinating meetings and events. 
  • Work with partners, vendors and internal stakeholders to identify and implement new programs, tools, processes, etc. Conduct and report on market benchmarks, best practices and trends in employee engagement. 
  • Manage groups of volunteer employees tasked with supporting the rollout of local engagement strategies. Lead the teams on implementation activities, engagement budgets and employee education activities. 
  • Assist in maintaining the company’s intranet, serving as a co-administrator to manage users and other processes on the platform. 
  • Assist in the creation of recruiting content for external social media channels and other digital platforms. 
  • Consult with team members on other HR/employment-related organization communications (edit, author, publish, etc.). 
  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 80% of a typical working day.

  • Regular and reliable attendance. 
  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures. Ability to work first shift hours with potential evening and weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, human resources, marketing or related field or equivalent work experience in lieu of education. 
  • At least one year of professional work experience in a team environment. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively connect with others; approachable & viewed as a responsive resource for employees and leaders. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to connect with and engage audiences of differing levels (front-line supervisors, executives, etc.). 
  • Strong project management and organization skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (MS Word, Power Point & Excel). 
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstration of strong analytical skills and the ability to visually present data in an understandable and engaging way. 
  • Employee engagement initiative or program development experience. 
  • Community service experience and passion for connecting with the community. 
  • Openness to investigating, evaluating and implementing new and cutting-edge techniques to facilitate communication and engagement activities. 
  • Familiarity with photo and video equipment and editing programs.
