Employer Brand Lead

We have a compelling value proposition and great reputation, but it’s a crowded marketplace, and in our own backyard of Chicago and the Midwest we are not a well-known employer. We need you to help us spread our message further to reach the right audiences, at the right time, with the right message.

Our team is responsible for creating marketing & communications strategies and activating tactics to help spread the message why Discover is a great place to work. This work will elevate the brand in marketplaces to attract, engage and hire the best and most diverse talent. We regularly are able to see and measure our impact through our fast and fun work.

What you will be charged with:

We’re looking for an Employer Brand Lead with integrated marketing experience (e.g. digital media, social + local marketing campaigns) to partner with global campus and our local Chicago recruiting teams and agency partners to plan MarCom strategies and execute on tactics to get prospective talent excited about working at Discover. Some ways you will do this are:

  • Supporting the activation and evaluation of our employer value proposition (EVP) across Chicago and campus recruiting initiatives across the Midwest 
  • Being an expert at creating content both digital (e.g. social media channels) and offline (e.g. Out of Home or guerilla tactics) relevant to broad swath of talent including, but not limited to local entry level talent 
  • Building effective relationships with internal partners (recruiters, legal, employees) and external partners (agencies, job board/media contacts) to fully realize our objectives 
  • Support the recruiting teams with successful events by developing collateral or webinar content, managing swag requests, coordinating booth development and developing email communications 
  • Partner with agency and other leads on media plans, guerilla/local offline marketing programs, measurement and optimization 
  • Plan and execute drip campaigns, alumni/ambassador activation and other relevant tactics to keep candidates warm throughout the recruiting lifecycle 
  • Partner with Copywriter & Employer Brand Manager in managing digital brand presence including updating content, responding to employee reviews, and collecting and analyzing data to uncover opportunities 
  • Manage and contribute to special projects across the talent lifecycle including global campaigns 
  • Coordinates updates to the team’s website. 
  • Develops and distributes communications. 
  • Maintains document repositories, including uploading, moving, and archiving documents. Fields document requests for the team. 
  • Coordinates events and organizes presentations for training events and meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, or related field 
  • 4+ years of experience in communications, or related field 
  • In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in communications, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

If we had our say, we’d also look for:

  • 6+ years’ experience in an employer brand, marketing and media, digital marketing, or editorial role for a brand in a highly regulated industry 
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication, project management and client relationship building skills 
  • Experience marketing to the local Chicago talent market, including under represented communities 
  • You are equally energized by and skilled at developing creative and drawing insights from in-depth analysis 
  • High attention to detail; holding internal and external partners to similar high standards
