The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is hiring a part-time Event Associate – Kenosha & Racine Campuses to join our development and fundraising team. This position provides oversight and leadership for our third-party fundraising programs for our Kenosha and Racine Campuses, as well as Pet Walk Racine-Kenosha. This is a part-time, hybrid role at our Kenosha and Racine Campuses. The Event Associate reports to the Director of Special Events. Key Accountabilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Special Events, lead the planning and implementation of the special events fundraising programs of the Wisconsin Humane Society, with primary focus on the Kenosha and Racine Counties
    • Design engagement strategies to build awareness, attendance and support of all Kenosha and Racine-based WHS fundraising events, including Pet Walk Racine-Kenosha, hands-on support for other Pet Walks, and additional future events as assigned
    • Actively participate in the sponsorship solicitation process, working closely with the major gifts and institutional giving teams
    • Budget, report and manage event financials, dashboards, attendance, and timelines
  • Serve as primary organizer and main point of contact for all Kenosha and Racine fundraising events, including relationship building and stewardship of participants, vendors, sponsors, and volunteers
  • Oversee the third-party fundraising program for Kenosha and Racine Campus, including but not limited to:
    • Serve as point of contact for third-party fundraising including portal development and management for tracking and reporting
    • Respond to external and internal requests from third-party fundraisers
    • Recruit, train, and cultivate third-party event volunteers
    • Follow up after each third-party fundraiser/event and oversee acknowledgement for the donor(s)
  • Coordinate event staff and volunteers
  • Participate as a member of the development team in planning and implementing the organization’s overall fundraising strategy and programs
  • Actively participate as a member of the events team, supporting other WHS events as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years’ work experience in event coordination or fundraising required.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations in a professional manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and desire to create process improvement in all aspects of work.
  • Experience managing volunteers preferred.
  • Capable of accepting and completing tasks with minimal supervision in a highly self-motivated manner.
  • Demonstrated alignment with our mission, people-centered philosophy, and organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness; innovation; professionalism; equity; and positive approach.
  • Must be able to navigate emotional aspects of animal welfare work.
  • Able to successfully meet the physical demands of the job, which include stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
