National Louis University is seeking applicants interested in joining our team as the Events & Communications Manager. This position will be responsible for managing the center’s national conference, and the center’s communication and marketing activities. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the leadership team, and others, this position will manage the conceptualization, development, and implementation of the center’s external and internal communications, marketing strategies, and public relations activities, to cultivate engagement with funders, participants, and other external partners. This position will supervise three staff.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the Leadership Connections National Conference. Collaborate with the Executive Director, the leadership team, and others as needed, to determine the focus, theme, and alignment with strategic priorities. Develop and implement a plan to generate revenue through registration, sponsorships, and marketplace vendors. Supervise staff in their areas of responsibility including logistics, day-to-day operations, and vendor management. Develop and implement a marketing plan. 
  • Conceptualize and manage all center branding, communications, marketing, and graphic design efforts. Create, implement, and measure the success of comprehensive communication, marketing, and public relations efforts and strategies, including website design, email, and social media. 
  • Oversee the center’s marketing technology, including Highrise, MailChimp, Cvent, and the website. Work with the Instructional Design and Technology Team to ensure integration of technology tools. 
  • Oversee the center’s eNews, including creating the schedule and goals with the leadership team and supervising the Communication and Design Specialist. Review and edit materials and documents for brand accuracy, consistency in format, and quality standards. 
  • Provide support to the Executive Director as needed and oversee office management, primarily supervising the Project and Office Coordinator. Support the center’s Advisory Council as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in communications, graphic design, journalism, marketing, or related field required. Masters degree preferred. 
  • Previous experience creating compelling and diverse messages for different audiences required 
  • Previous experience in a supervisor role required 
  • 3-5 years of previous design, communication, marketing, and event management experience 
  • 3-5 years of experience developing partnerships/sponsorships that advance strategic priorities and generate revenue 
  • 3-5 years of experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Quark, and online marketing tools, including email management, social media, marketing, website development, and customer relationship management software 
  • Must have organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail 
  • Must have strong project management skills and the ability to leverage technology 
  • Must have copy editing and proofreading skills, both written and electronic, along with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills 
  • Must have previous success working in a non-profit environment, preferably related to early childhood education, higher education, or leadership 
  • Must be able to learn quickly, develop and manage a budget, and mentor employees 
  • Some travel required
