It provides services and programming on behalf of Special Service Area 27 and our affiliated 501(c)(3) Friends of Lakeview. Our mission is to support a resilient local economy and high quality of life for the benefit of businesses and residents in Chicago’s West Lakeview community through neighborhood promotion, business development, advocacy, and public space enhancements. Our service area is bounded by Racine Avenue, Ravenswood Avenue, Diversey Parkway and Irving Park Road.

Do you get excited about events, marketing and supporting local businesses? The Lakeview Chamber of Commerce, the service provider for Special Service Area 27 (SSA 27) and partner of Friends of Lakeview, seeks a part-time Events & Marketing Coordinator who is interested in event planning, event execution and social media management. This position reports to the Events & Marketing Director and will be tasked with organizing various community events including Lakeview Live, Low-Line Market, Trick or Treat on Southport and holiday programming as well as managing the Lakeview Chamber and Low-Line Market social media channels.

The pay for this position is $15-$20/hour based on experience. Your weekly work schedule is flexible to accommodate evening and weekend events, working a total of 20-25 hrs/week.

Responsibilities:

Plan, manage and execute the Chamber’s existing in-house community events, including volunteer recruitment and coordination, marketing, permitting, outreach and all other aspects of the following events:

  • Low-Line Market (June - October on Thursdays from 3:30-7:30pm) 
  • Lakeview Live (July - August on Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30pm) 
  • Lincoln Hub Summer Workout Series (June - August on Mondays & Tuesdays from 6-8pm)
  • Trick or Treat on Southport (Monday, October 26 from 4-8pm) 
  • Small Business Saturday (Saturday, Nov. 28) 
  • Lakeview Tree and Menorah Lighting Ceremonies (Sunday, Nov 22 and Thursday, Dec. 10)

Assist with various tasks and on-site execution with other community events led by Events & Marketing Director

  • Southport Wine & Chocolate Stroll 
  • PorchFest Lakeview 
  • Lakeview Taco Fest 
  • Lincoln Avenue Beer Stroll 
  • Southport Holiday Stroll & Cocktail Crawl 
  • Along with others as needed

Communications

  • Manage the Lakeview Chamber and Low-Line Market social media accounts, which includes creating and approving content 
  • Manage Happening in Lakeview eNewsletter

Assist with managing Events & Marketing Intern in summer and fall

Qualifications and Time Commitment:

  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to build relationships 
  • Passion for community events 
  • At least one year of previous event experience 
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. 
  • Available to work 20-25 hrs/week, including evening and weekend events 
  • Ideal start time is by February 10, 2020
