About the role

The MATTER marketing and engagement team is responsible for telling the MATTER story through content, events and communications that span a variety of platforms and channels. We are looking for an energetic and detailed events coordinator to join MATTER’s event and events marketing efforts.

Our ideal candidate has experience in both live and virtual event production. You know how to plan and execute engaging events. You are technically adept, detail-oriented and cool under pressure. You also will support cross-functional marketing efforts, particularly with social media.

This position reports to the director of marketing and engagement and is an on-site role at our downtown office in Chicago.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate event logistics, including audio-visual, catering, staff coverage and facility setup for all event types (meetings, conferences, lectures, panel discussions and organized networking) 
  • Maximize the use of MATTER’s event space, include proactively contribute to increasing third party events held at MATTER 
  • Prepare and modify event contracts and handling related paperwork 
  • Monitor events KPIs and benchmarks 
  • Support team members on successful completion of projects and events 
  • Manage individual event budgets 
  • Support social media marketing efforts 
  • Provide ad hoc support for the marketing team


  • 2+ years relevant experience 
  • Experience running events both in-person (e.g., A/V) and on virtual platforms (Zoom, WebEx, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated experience in social media marketing 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of startups, emerging technology and innovation in the healthcare space


  • Project management 
  • Technical competency (can troubleshoot audio visual, presentation and digital event platforms) 
  • A strong communicator and relationship builder with the ability to excel in independent, fast-paced working environments 
  • Detail oriented 
  • Strong time management skills 
  • Performs well under pressure
