About the role:

JLL is looking for a strategic events leader to support their internal events who is enthusiastic about the role of events in creating growth and business impact in today’s ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, senior events strategist with deep experience designing, logistically executing and project managing events, large and small, that deliver measurable outcomes.

The Senior Manager, Events will be a member of the JLL Events Hub and will lead the design and implementation of all major events, including internal company events, industry conferences, national sales meetings, client hospitality, trade shows, etc.

The successful candidate must have a proven ability to manage a high-volume of diverse meetings and events per year, while working in a fast-paced, but supportive team environment. In addition, the candidate must have experience building strong relationships, negotiating with internal and external groups, delivering new and creative ideas and be a highly effective communicator.

This role will have full accountability and oversight of assigned events, inclusive of strategy development, RFP/contracting, planning and onsite execution, post event budget reconciliation and report outs.

He/she will manage the implementation, coordination and oversight of all event planning functions, including collaboration with internal/external stakeholders, scoping lodging, logistical, and catering requirements, developing program budgets, and negotiating and administering RFPs and other service contracts to ensure operational excellence. The candidate may supervise agencies, contractors, freelancers, vendors and other event staff.

This position will report to the Associate Director – Events and is a hybrid role requiring flexible onsite presence 3 days a week, based in either our Chicago or Dallas office.

Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Organize, schedule and execute virtual and in-person planning meetings with key stakeholders – including driving for alignment and progress 
  • Collaborate across key functional areas to ensure a cohesive pre-event, onsite, and post-event strategy to increase engagement 
  • Partner with marketing and others to coordinate, communicate, and optimize the impact of event activities 
  • Build event flows in partnership with Marketing and business stakeholders 
  • Oversee multiple event planning schedules simultaneously 
  • Persuade and gain buy-in on yearly event strategy, in partnership with assigned business partners 
  • Optimize and standardize event processes 
  • Maintain overall responsibility for assigned event budgets

Event Design & Logistics

  • Apply event design best practices to enhance the overall attendee experiences and meet or exceed event ROI 
  • Direct management of all event logistics including, but not limited to negotiating contracts, production timelines, run-of-show reports, scheduling and managing production meetings, onsite problem solving, reconciling budgets and producing measurable outcomes 
  • Strong comfort level utilizing Cvent platform and other event technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree: CMP designation preferred 
  • 8+ years in executing the full lifecycle of corporate meetings and events 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment 
  • Ability to travel, including weekends, as needed, for onsite event operation 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills 
  • Ability to think strategically and also be extremely comfortable in the details 
  • Able to build strong working relationships across all levels of an organization 
  • Excellent budget and financial prowess. 
  • Desire to learn new event technology platforms (Cvent, SmartSheets, Workfront) 
  • Proficient skills in SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
