Overview:

The Executive Communications Manager is responsible for the creation and execution of a diverse portfolio of communications deliverables aimed at BCBSA associates and BCBS Plan colleagues. The Manager works closely with key stakeholders across BCBSA to plan and implement communication strategies that engage BCBSA employees and BCBS Plan leaders in important initiatives driven by BCBSA on behalf of the BCBS System. The Manager brings excellent reporting and writing techniques to create compelling, relevant and timely content to newsletters and website content. That Manager also supports executive visibility opportunities for BCBSA’s senior leaders, including tracking and planning speaking opportunities. This position collaborates across Strategic Communications to align messaging and support Association-wide communications goals.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Researching and writing a variety of deliverables in the voice of CEO and senior executives, including speeches, presentations and talking points for CEO and other senior executives for internal and external audiences, public-facing op-eds, plan-facing reports and correspondence and internal messages from CEO, bringing impactful messaging about the BCBS System and BCBSA to all audiences 
  • Coordinates with team members across strategic communications functions and Creative Services and to craft channel- and audience-appropriate communications and engaging complimentary visuals and ensure alignment of messages and process 
  • Managing and executing BCBSA Board communications in support of the Office of the President 
  • Manages executive visibility opportunities and calendar for BCBSA senior leadership’s executive visibility 
  • Edits and proofreads communications developed across BCBSA strategic communications function

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of communications/speechwriter experience 
  • Familiarity with healthcare 
  • Experience in identifying, research, writing, produce and coordinate clear, vivid text for speeches, op-eds, talking points, presentations, essays, articles, video scripts, website copy, correspondence and other projects for senior executives 
  • Experience crafting scripts that are personally and professionally representative of the speaker and tailored to the specific audience 
  • Competency/experience to generate creative concepts for visual/multimedia deliverables 
  • Competency/experience to organize and track calendar of events and monitor for executive visibility opportunities 
  • 4-year College Degree

Preferred Basic Qualifications:

  • Business strategy experience 
  • Strong project management skills, organizational ability and attention to detail 
  • Master's Degree
