Position Overview:

The Association of Corporate Counsel of Wisconsin (ACC-WI) is seeking a proactive, organized, and enthusiastic person to serve as the Executive Director of the non-profit bar association that represents Corporate Counsel throughout the state of Wisconsin. The Executive Director is ACC-WI’s key individual responsible for day-to-day operations and implementation of programs and services. This dynamic role acts as the face of the organization and is perfect for an individual with experience in the professional service marketing area or non-profit world interested in a flexible, independent contractor position.

Primary Responsibilities:

Membership Involvement

  • Respond to phone calls, text messages and emails from ACC-WI members regarding benefits of membership, events, and various other inquiries. 
  • Work with ACC-National to maintain a roster of members to ensure up to date contact information for members. 
  • Help retain existing members and add new members. 
  • Send e-mails and other communications on behalf of the Board to membership regarding events and opportunities. 
  • Assist with social media presence. 

Sponsorships

  • Promote sponsorship recruitment and retention to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives. 
  • Maintain close working relationships with the marketing and client relations departments and key attorneys/executives of sponsors and potential sponsors. 
  • Prepare and send out sponsorship packets each year and coordinate the selection of appropriate sponsors at each level. 
  • Accept submissions and maintain records for sponsor payments and fulfillment of sponsor benefits. 
  • Regularly communicate with sponsors regarding guidelines and requirements, including program scheduling, promotion, and deadlines. 
  • Invoice and collect payments from sponsors in a timely fashion. 
  • Assign platinum sponsors specific months for articles and exclusive programs. 

Board Involvement

  • Schedule in person or virtual meetings and attend and assist in facilitating all Board and Committee meetings, including various annual special events. 
  • Work closely with the Board President and prepare materials for monthly Board meetings. 
  • Work with Board Officers to develop and track annual budget. 
  • Work with Treasurer to maintain QuickBook accounts, complete the annual ACC-WI financial report and 1099, pay invoices, and make deposits as required. 

Events

  • Provide leadership to and manage all aspects of events and programs, including the ACC-WI annual conference, annual ethics program, annual membership thank you event and platinum sponsor events. Travel is required for some events. 
  • Prepare invitations and marketing materials as appropriate. 
  • Maintain and set up registration website using Cvent and Eventbrite. 
  • Apply for and obtain CLE credit in multiple states for programs sponsored by ACC-WI. 

Miscellaneous

  • Prepare communications at the request of the Board. 
  • Work with designated Board member to maintain ACC-WI website. 
  • Participate in monthly training calls with ACC-National and monthly chapter administrator/ED calls. 
  • Attend ACC-National Conference including the Chapter Administrator Training. 
  • At the National Conference, network with and promote ACC-WI to local and national sponsors. 
  • Populate document retention platform(s) required by ACC-National for information and succession planning purposes. 
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports for ACC-National. 
  • Serve as key liaison with ACC-National. 
  • Assist with other responsibilities and special projects as requested/assigned by the Board and as time allows.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • 3-5 or more years of experience in marketing, public relations, event planning, or related field preferably in the professional services or non-profit field (law firm or corporate legal department a plus).

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional project management skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Experience with social media management, content creation platforms (Hootsuite, Canva, etc.) and virtual conferencing (Zoom, Teams, etc.). 
  • Proficiency with virtual conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.). 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. 
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task. 
  • Creative problem-solver.

Work Hours & Benefits:

The Executive Director works for ACC-WI as an Independent Contractor an average of 30 hours per week. Hours vary depending on events occurring during the programming year. This position is remote except attendance at in-person ACC-WI events is expected and the candidate is expected to live in Wisconsin (Southeastern, Fox Valley or Madison areas preferred). Travel reimbursement to events outside of Southeastern Wisconsin as well as travel to ACC National Annual Conference is paid.
