Position Details

External Communications Manager
Twin Cities Metro
St. Louis Park, MN

We are seeking an External Communications Manager that will be responsible for the bulk of Old National’s communications and communication strategies geared toward external audiences. This includes media relations, crisis and issues management, public and civic affairs, and corporate and employee awards and nominations. Additionally, the External Communications Manager provides content for certain portions of the company website (oldnational.com) and directly supervises Old National’s Social Media Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

Manage and execute communications for external audiences.

  • Create and disseminate corporate news releases while also working with Old National’s Community Marketing team to ensure proper tone and messaging in all market-specific news releases. 
  • Provide scripting and talking points for executive leaders to prepare them to engage with external audiences. 
  • Manage content for the “About” and Newsroom sections of oldnatonal.com. 
  • Oversee Old National’s social media strategy and execution. 
  • Manage and create Old National’s annual ESG Report and partner with the company’s Investor Relations team on creation of our Corporate Annual Report.

Serve as the organization’s primary media relations contact.

  • Serve as Old National’s primary media relations contact for most issues/topics. 
  • Own/manage the company’s crisis communications plan. 
  • Work with media representatives to identify opportunities for Old National team members to be represented as subject matters experts in our communities.

Proactively work to ensure Old National is seen as both a bank and employer of choice.

  • Develop and implement a proactive, bank-wide media relations strategy and plan to support and enhance our community bank culture and brand. 
  • Develop and execute on a robust external recognition plan that includes company and individual accolades and awards. 
  • Coach and prepare key Old National leaders to represent the company as “go-to” subject matter experts that our media partners rely on to inform their audiences.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Knowledge, interest and experience in Corporate Communications and media relations. 
  • BS or BA in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field of study. 
  • 5 or more years of experience as a Communications professional with responsibilities that included written communications and media relations. 
  • Hands-on experience in a broad range of communication channels, including print, video, digital and social media.
