What is the opportunity?

As the Manager of External Communications & Corporate Social Media you will work with the Director of Communications to protect and enhance the RBC Wealth Management brand. Your duties will require you to work closely with senior leaders and internal partners in marketing, events, community affairs and recruiting to develop proactive communications campaigns and corresponding content that spans multiple channels, including traditional media, external events and corporate social media.

What will you do?

  • Serve as the lead on advisor public relations, working with field leadership to promote RBC Wealth Management’s growth and recruiting success in key markets across the country. 
  • Lead the firm’s industry award submission process for prestigious honors such as Barron’s Top Advisors lists, FT 400, etc. ensuring full representation of the firm and all eligible advisors. 
  • Develop relationships with local media in select key markets and serve as primary point of contact for leaders in select local markets. Strategy and collaboration to develop and drive external messaging, timing and media relations outreach. 
  • Identify and create corporate-level social media initiatives that help elevate the RBC Wealth Management brand and increase exposure among key stakeholders 
  • Work with advisor social media team to ensure relevant corporate content is made available to the field and create compelling content and source supporting imagery for a variety of social channels. 
  • Assist Director of Communications with creation of a brand ambassador program that engages more employees in sharing the RBC Wealth Management story. 
  • Work closely with global RBC partners to execute social media initiatives and help promote firm sponsorship of external events through effective social media strategies, speaker training and prep, and media opportunities. 
  • Assist with event organization and mobilization, ensuring all deliverables are on time and research potential sponsorship opportunities. Research top influencers and competitors and stay current with social media trends

What do you need to succeed?


  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism or PR/Communications 
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in media relations.
  • Five years of experience working within and understanding creation of social media content for a variety of social channels, namely LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter is also required. 
  • Outstanding executive presence with the ability to gain credibility, rapport and support with all key internal stakeholders. 
  • Ability to think strategically to best position the firm to the media and counsel media spokespeople. 
  • Experience writing and editing content
