The external relations team works cross-functionally to continuously improve the client experience and relationships with donors, referral sources, prospective studentsand alumni. This includes external communications, marketing, media relations, website management, social mediaand fundraising.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the External Relations Manager will focus on supporting the work of this team through a balance of process-based and strategy-based duties, content creation as well as some seasonal projects. The ideal candidate for this position is a proactive multi-tasker who will effectively prioritize, pivot quickly, learn new skills and build relationships across teams and departments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the planning and execution of the overarching marketing strategy for The Family Institute with direction from the Director of Marketing. 
  • Oversee social media accounts, leading channel strategy and content creation on various platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and other communications channels. 
  • Management of social media calendar via Sprout Social. Run appropriate reports to track analytics and ensure that we are meeting our strategic goals. 
  • Assist with additional communications development and distribution as needed in collaboration with the external relations team and clinicians, including e-communications, referral source acknowledgement and other appropriate marketing content. 
  • Assist with the planning and development of psychoeducational events, including seminars, webinars and our Let’s Talk series. Help identify external opportunities and occasions to provide resources and psychoeducational content for various audiences. 
  • Assist with public relations and media inquires, as needed. 
  • Execute the production of print materials, including donor signage and way-finding materials, psychoeducational materials and brochures. 
  • Maintain an organized resource bank of the above materials, always ensuring that digital and print communications align with brand guidelines and incorporate the proper tone, styleand AP formatting. 
  • Create clinician profiles for new clinicians on the website to optimize client experience when matching with a therapist who can best meet their needs. 
  • Manage posting and removal of open positions (in conjunction with the HR Team). 
  • Oversee and track “Contact Us” and “Request a Speaker” inquiries to ensure every inquiry is answered in a timely fashion and by the appropriate party. Evolve governance around Contact Us processing. 
  • Make other website updates as requested, includingnewsroom updates.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and quickly pivot as needed 
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies and platforms and take a data-driven approach to your work 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, working with spreadsheets, data and other productivity tools 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to multi-task and problem solve 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of organization

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
