What You Will Contribute:

Your opportunity to elevate industrial product marketing on a global scale and play a role in the mission to measure and monitor the world’s most valuable resource – water. As leader of a global team, you will manage, motivate and arrange the activities of your Global Marketing Communications team to understand the customer, architect effective go-to-market plans in partnership with internal stakeholders, measure the success of those efforts, and use data to inform creative, brand-forward, engaging, revenue-enabling activities.

Essential job duties:

  • Architect the go-to-market strategy for the Smart Water segment: to increase customer engagement, revenue and profit, lead the development and deployment of how Badger Meter presents to a global customer audience to influence purchase behaviors. 
  • Organize branding for consistent deployment: as part of the greater Global Marketing Communications team, participate in the daily mission to elevate and align the Badger Meter brand for consistent and persuasive delivery to both prospects and customers. 
  • Manage a global team: lead, motivate and grow the skills of the globally-located team including planning, decision-making, problem solving, communicating, delegating, and project leading. 
  • Build strong, collaborative partnerships: acting diplomatically and brining marketing expertise to internal partners in both product development and sales, work in partnership to align strategic planning and deliver measurable work to deliver against that strategy and drive revenue. 
  • Own the “why” of marketing: ensure all efforts of the team start from a strong and measurable answer to “why” that can inform “what” the team does and “how” they do it. 
  • Grow a culture of measurement: for every strategy, plan and work product, build a measurement plan to not only drive for success, but also evangelize that success internally to elevate the brand of marketing communications to internal partners and provide data-driven support for future work. 
  • Be curious: Gather customer insights through both formal research and more informal customer conversations and apply what is learned to planning and execution. 
  • Collect and compile competitive specifications: pricing, positioning, and marketing messaging to understand how we compete against competition within given applications. 
  • Product marketing excellence: with an understanding of how Badger Meter products help the customer succeed, deliver compelling marketing messaging to showcase benefits, new products and leading technologies. 
  • Utilize proven marketing channels: based on customer insights and success measurements, select, deploy and monitor a full suite of tactical marketing actions – including but not limited to – advertising, trade shows, blog, content articles, digital marketing, SEO/SEM, websites, email, social, collateral development, distributor marketing, technical documentation. 
  • Diligent calendar planning: perpetually aware of priorities, time requirements and available bandwidth of resources, develop work plans that balance aggressive delivery, work quality and effectiveness. 
  • Advocate for innovation: encourage team to recommend and justify, via business case, new ideas based on trends and best practices. 
  • Support sales team to close business: bring brand, product and creative insights to large sales opportunities in support of bid response team. 
  • Manage and monitor budgets: advocate an annual plan for financial support of marketing activity and monitor monthly expenses. 
  • Manage and monitor third-party relationships: for complementary support of internal marketing and brand activities. 
  • Travel to make personal connections: expect to travel up to 15% of a year to maintain live engagement with global teams, customers and partners in sales and product management.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or communications related field, or relevant experience is required. 
  • Five or more years of experience leading strategy development and project management through a team of direct reports is required. 
  • Motivated by the opportunity to be curious and learn continuously is required. 
  • Managing a team of direct-report, marketing specialists across various disciplines is required. 
  • Strategy development and partnership with subject matter experts in sales and product is required. 
  • Managing a remote team in global locations is preferred. 
  • Assembling and integrating the efforts of team members following acquisition is preferred. 
  • Managing the efforts of marketing for a B2B industrial products company is preferred. 
  • Creating marketing plans for products purchased both directly and through distribution is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with a long duration selling process that involves responding to customer proposals and preparing bids / tenders, often in government is preferred. 
  • Familiar with CRM tools (Salesforce) and Business Intelligence tools (MicroStrategy of PowerBI) for decision making and strategy development is preferred.
