Capstone’s Graphic Designer uses boundless creativity and high attention to detail to create designs for catalogs, brochures, websites, social media, email advertising and so much more. This role is an integral part of our close-knit Marketing team, who help promote Capstone’s mission of making learning fun for children!

As Graphic Designer, your work will help market Capstone’s fast-growing digital products like PebbleGo and Capstone Connect, as well as our large print product list. These products are utilized by thousands of schools across the U.S., as well as globally in our international market. Our preference is for this role to be based out of either our Edina or Mankato, MN office locations. Most employees work a hybrid schedule with some days per week working from home.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design

  • Design for catalogs and brochures; websites; print, web, social media, and email advertising; print and digital marketing collateral; and more. 
  • Complete creative work on time, within budget, and in line with strategic market requirements. 
  • Display a solid understanding of technical specifications and quality standards. 
  • Perform various administrative duties as dictated by current workflow. 
  • 10-20% of your time will be responding to quick turn initiatives within Marketing. 
  • 80-90% of your time will be with Marketing projects and associated workflow.

Teamwork

  • Be part of a fun, collaborative Marketing team that aims to communicate the love of reading and learning to our customers, both external and internal. 
  • Participate in agile workflow via JIRA web software, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and monthly exit demos. 
  • Thrive in a fast-paced design environment. 
  • Assist freelance design talent as needed.

Education, Experience, and Skills desired:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related area. 
  • 2-4 years of experience in graphic design. Previous experience in children’s book publishing a major plus. 
  • Exceptional visual problem solver. 
  • Exceptional technical skills. 
  • High level of proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. 
  • Basic web design skills via CMS (content management system). 
  • Basic familiarity with Easy Catalog software. 
  • Solid leadership skills demonstrable in project management. 
  • Ability to give and receive constructive criticism. 
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Work well within a team and independently. 
  • Self-motivated, shows initiative and is a quick learner. 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Travel Requirements: This position requires no travel.
