The role of Graphic Designer will contribute to the brand’s creative expression, helping Concordia Wisconsin and Ann Arbor tell a clear and compelling story through world class design across

  • Print
  • Tradeshow assets
  • Billboard & outdoor
  • Digital advertising (primarily static banner ads)
  • Assisting with video and photo shoots

They will collaborate with partners in Admissions, Advancement and Academics, and within the Marketing and Communications team to raise the public profile of the university and to present its case in the most compelling and favorable terms to prospective students and stakeholders.

They will collaborate with both internal and external creative teams, freelancers, and vendor partners and participate in a range of daily activities and projects within an existing portfolio of work as well as working with the Director of Web and Design to create new work. This full­time, exempt position reports to the Director of Web and Design located in the Office of Marketing on the Mequon, Wisconsin campus.

  • Strategize, design, and evaluate exceptional creative design work that interprets the University's mission and key initiatives to multiple external audiences in order to market the university's distinctiveness, achievements and key initiatives; 
  • Set priorities, gathering and generating resources, and ensuring project goals are achieved;
  • Participate in strategic design sessions, creative brief development and project planning; oversee simultaneous projects; 
  • Assist the marketing and strategic communications teams to utilize the best and latest brand design and creative methods and tools/technology; identify and implement process improvements to meet project and team needs; 
  • As requested, support specific projects required by other University departments such as one-sheets, whitepapers, case studies, presentation slides, video interviews.
  • The ideal candidate must possess a well­-developed understanding of the Concordia mission and demonstrate an ability to express our mission with authenticity, accuracy, and vibrancy.
  • Familiarity with faith-­based/mission-­driven organizations 
  • Ability to work effectively on teams and in a culture that requires collaboration, teamwork and trust. 
  • Professional experience in digital, social, and video. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in small and large groups at all levels of anorganization; 
  • High attention to detail with drive for continuous improvement. 
  • Ability to travel to campuses and offsite venues, and to work some weekends and evenings. 

Successful candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in fine arts, graphic design, film, illustration, media arts or some other creative field, and will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field (freelance or firm), preferably in marketing/advertising. Portfolio giving evidence of work across mediums, particularly print and digital is required.

This is a full-time position. Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience. A flexible, hybrid (in office/remote) work schedule may be offered to the right candidate provided that it would work for the needs of the department.
