What We're Looking For:

HNTB Corporation seeks a creative and collaborative graphic/web designer who will report to the supervisor of the Wisconsin Graphics and Publications team. This individual will conceptualize and create a wide variety of original graphic art, assets and layouts for print and digital platforms to communicate concepts and ideas consistently and effectively.

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Use Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft PowerPoint and CMS applications create high-quality visual content including document layouts, infographics, technical illustrations, presentations, logos and collateral, and websites and animated and motion graphics
  • Collaborate with team members and internal clients across HNTB, including receiving and responding to creative feedback
  • Initiate and complete tasks while adhering to established workflows and review/delivery timelines
  • Analyze and identify cost-effective options to meet project requirements
  • Organize, maintain and archive working files according to established processes

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Creates detailed charts and graphs illustrating HNTB’s strategy for the project to clients. Designs covers, tabs and dividers that are required for client submission presentations. Prepares preliminary sketches, renderings, and/or mock-ups, coordinates customer approval, or recommends and performs modifications as needed. Performs final design and layout of materials, including color schemes, typefaces, camera-ready artwork, cutting overlays, etc. Interacts with HNTB staff and clients to create initial materials, concepts and ideas that conform to client needs and timelines.
  • Develops materials for interviewing with the client, such as boards, PowerPoint presentations and leave behinds.
  • Assists in concept development of program identified, logos and other graphic elements to graphically link program materials.
  • Designs and performs preliminary layout of various materials including brochures, flyers, media release templates, exhibit boards, newsletters, report covers and other printed materials.
  • Helps coordinate production of materials by outside vendors as well as internal staff.
  • Provides detailed and accurate cost estimates for all printed graphics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in graphic design, web design or related area
  • 5 years professional print/web design experience
  • In lieu of education, 7 years print/web design experience

Software Skills:

Expertise in the following applications:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • At least one CMS

Working knowledge of the following applications:

  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Animate
  • Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Microsoft Word

Applied use of the following skills:

  • Fundamentals of web frameworks
  • CSS, HTML
  • Programming language such as Python, Java or similar

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Art, Graphic Design, or related area
  • 3 years art/graphic design experience
  • In lieu of education, 7 years art/graphic design experience
