The Illinois Association Behavioral Health (IABH) seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to support the visual and creative needs of IABH and its youth prevention programs, Cebrin Goodman Teen Institute (CGTI), Operation Snowball, Inc., Focus Youth Gambling Prevention Program, and Generation Lead. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Senior Graphic Designer to ensure consistent, branded, accessible materials across all platforms and projects.

Duties and responsibilities are listed below but are not to be considered all-inclusive or exclusive solely to this position.

  • Design branded print and digital materials, including flyers, toolkits, infographics, slide decks, reports, training materials, and social media graphics.
  • Ensure all designs align with IABH brand guidelines and meet accessibility standards (e.g., color contrast, readability).
  • Support the Senior Graphic Designer in managing large-scale campaigns and project timelines.
  • Collaborate with program staff and subject matter experts to visually translate ideas and data.
  • Create and maintain design templates to support consistency and efficiency.
  • Assist in developing assets for e-learning modules, webinars, and virtual training.
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of websites, including icons, banners, and downloadable content.
  • Provide creative input and design support for event branding and materials (e.g., CGTI summer leadership program, Snowball retreats, logos, IABH Conference, Advocacy Day, Mid-Year, etc.).
  • Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions with the program teams.
  • Support design requests from across the organization, maintaining version control and organized archives.
  • Keep current on trends in visual communication, youth engagement, nonprofit branding, design trends and best practices in public health and nonprofit communications.
  • Travel to program events as needed (up to 15%) to support on-site design needs (e.g., signage, photography, etc.).
  • Manage multiple design requests on deadline and maintain an organized archive of design files.
  • Ensure grant objectives and deliverables are met; remain fiscally responsible and complainant in reports and expenditures.
  • Attends and/or presents at relevant conferences, volunteer and health fairs, and community events.
  • Works in conjunction with IABH staff to ensure seamless coordination, communication and customer service among prevention programs, outreach, and other IABH initiatives and programs.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) or comparable design tools (e.g., Canva Pro, Figma).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with both print and digital design.
  • Attention to detail, strong visual storytelling skills, and ability to translate technical content into accessible designs.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate with remote teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and communication skills.
  • Must possess computer (MS Office) skills and a valid Illinois driver’s license.
  • Must be an Illinois resident.
  • Must pass Illinois State Police background check.
  • Travel (up to 15%) required.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

  • Experience in public health, behavioral health, nonprofit, or education sectors.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards in design (e.g., Section 508, WCAG).
  • Experience with motion graphics, video editing, or interactive content creation.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS or content management systems like Squarespace is a plus.
