Position Overview:

This highly creative position provides graphic design and production on multi-channel marketing projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. The graphic designer partners with key university stakeholders to create and deliver marketing and communication materials with impact. This position requires a strong conceptual thinker who contributes fresh ideas on projects from start to finish. The successful candidate can design with all media platforms in mind, including print, digital, social media and video.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work as part of a creative team and is responsible for the design and production of publications, advertising, event promotional materials, brochures, and other marketing projects.
  2. Work closely with the marketing teams to develop marketing campaigns for enrollment marketing, brand marketing, and fundraising initiatives.
  3. Work as part of a creative team to design and produce graphics for digital media, including web sites, social media, video and other projects as needed.
  4. Design and produce PowerPoint presentations and self-service templates, Word templates, and templates for Canva and additional platforms as needed.
  5. Adapt, convert and prepare files for digital use in social, web, video and presentation media.
  6. Design identity assets and systems for programs, events and limited-term initiatives.
  7. Assist in the organization, scheduling and management of photo shoots, including recruiting subjects and securing and managing photography releases.
  8. Manage university brand assets such as logos, photography, illustrations, design templates, presentations, brand documentation, as well as fulfilling requests for brand assets and management/administration of digital asset management software.
  9. Conduct pre-press preparation and quality assurance of files and images, attend press checks, stay current with print process best practices.
  10. Provide excellent customer service to various contacts on campus as their projects flow through the Office of Marketing and Communication production process.
  11. Responsible for articulating the brand standards, messaging, personality, and values through the development of visual media.
  12. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, advertising or a related field.
  • Candidate will have minimum of 5 years of experience in graphic design.
  • Provide a strong portfolio of work that demonstrates strength in print and digital implementation.
  • Previous experience working with design standards and brand platforms.Previous experience creating graphics for use within a content management system (CMS).Previous experience working with vendors to define specs and select options for print projects.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues on creative projects and initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills needed for detail-oriented work and meeting deadlines that may require quick turnarounds and frequent periods of high volume.
  • Proven record of graphic design and production on a wide variety of marketing projects. Must be extremely detail-oriented and be able to work to deadlines on multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of production process and have the ability to understand and maintain production schedules, track deliverables, problem solve and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate strong program skills in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, and in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Possess the mindset and collegiality to provide excellent customer service to university partners and colleagues. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with work in higher education, health care, or other mission-based organizations preferred.
