The graphic designer is a member of the Enrollment Management and Marketing team and contributes to the production of print and digital design to illustrate and communicate the College’s brand. The graphic designer will ensure all internal and external communication materials adhere to the College’s Graphic Standards Manual. Under the direction of enrollment marketing leadership and with collaboration with the director of creative services, this person will conceive designs (digital and print) and produce visual marketing materials— from concept to completion—that support undergraduate and graduate enrollment efforts. This position will work closely with the enrollment marketing team to strategize the visual execution of enrollment marketing strategies and implement those campaigns across a multitude of platforms. The graphic designer oversees a team of student graphic designers, ensuring that all work is done in line with the College’s brand guidelines, and completed to meet all deadlines.

Description of Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manages creative direction and brand implementation for all marketing materials that support the College’s enrollment strategies, including, publications, signage and banners, web page content, SEO/SEM campaigns, digital assets, social media graphic support, emails, print and online advertisements, postcards, invitations and posters.
  2. Partner with the enrollment marketing team to develop, brainstorm, strategize, and design marketing materials for clients across campus to support retention and enrollment.
  3. Assists with content generation, web graphics, analytics and updates for College website.
  4. Researches, captures and edits basic video for use on the College’s official social media and web platforms.
  5. Works on the creation of graphic assets that serve to carry the College’s brand throughout all social media channels.
  6. Collaborates with the director of creative services and enrollment marketing team on the production process of all on- and off-campus printing, including identifying printers, developing print specifications, obtaining price quotes and maintaining quality control.
  7. Oversees student worker graphic design team, managing workload, scheduling and hiring and providing design direction.
  8. Ability to foster and sustain positive working relationships with the College’s print vendors, freelance photographers, videographers and designers.
  9. In collaboration with the director of creative services, provide and discuss art direction with photographers and videographers based on specific project needs and marketing strategy.
  10. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College.   11. Employs both Macintosh andIBMcomputer systems. Must be knowledgeable with Adobe Creative Suite (with an emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere), and have an understanding of the offset and digital printing world, video editing, and effective web design.
  12. Utilizes daily and maintains online project management system to track project statuses, budget, print and online specifications, and deadlines.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Customer service is critical to the success of any organization that deals with customers. An individual in this position must possess the proficiency, wherewithal and knowledge of principles and processes for providing high-quality customer and personal services to both internal and external customers of the College.

  1. Knowledge of both Macintosh andIBMsystems required. Experience in the use of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere and other Adobe Creative Suite programs.
  2. Communication, organization, project management and task management skills.
  3. Portfolio required.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The individual in this position is a member of the Enrollment Marketing team, responsiblefor visually presenting North Central College to a variety of constituencies. This individual will be required to manage multiple priorities and meet multiple deadlines while uniquely stewarding the College’s brand and maintaining the College’s graphic standards through print, web, social media and other marketing and communications channels. This individual participates in brainstorming sessions and creatively implements the College’s brand through a variety of marketing assets.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree degree in graphic design, graphic communication, interactive media studies or related field is required.

Experience Minimum:

  • 1-3 years job-related graphic design experience and portfolio desired.
