TPT has an immediate opening for a full-time Graphic Designer. This role will conceptualize and design visual elements for magazine, print, web, video, and other promotional materials that reflect the TPT strategy and brand. Publication/print design experience is essential. Our ideal candidate is a dynamic and versatile graphic designer who enjoys working in an engaging, creative, mission-driven environment.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

DESIGN (45% of time)

  • Provide visual design and creative experiential thinking across print, web and video graphic projects that are inspiring, effective, and meet client needs. 
  • Interpret needs, objectives, and direction from cross-functional teams to ensure design concepts meet TPT’s goals. 
  • Convey ideas and design concepts utilizing storyboards, mood boards, concept treatments, and mock-ups. 
  • Utilize graphic design skillset to create for multiple platforms, select appropriate file formats and maintain asset archival and retrieval. 
  • Work directly with the Marketing & Communications Department to understand and implement TPT’s branding protocols. 
  • Ability to interpret and design using both internal/external brand guides and maintain TPT's Brand & Style Guide. 
  • Contribute to corporate productivity regularly by increasing expertise in design industry and PBS trends, and increased efficiency utilizing current design software and hardware. 
  • Ensure designs meet TPT’s and PBS’s high technical standards.

MAGAZINE (35% of time)

  • Primary designer for TPT’s monthly magazine which includes page layout, document design, graphic/infographic design, presentations, branding and print production.

COMMUNICATION (15% of time)

  • Present highly professional image of TPT to all stakeholders, through verbal and written interactions. 
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with clients and editors to ensure project objectives are translated into creative deliverables. 
  • Communicate with clients so they understand the impact of TPT’s branding requirements on their projects. 
  • Partner and collaborate with creative vendors as needed to meet deadlines and ensure quality.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED (5% of time)

  • Participate as an active member of the Creative Services and Marketing Team. Contribute to shared goals and collaborate with colleagues on achievement of priorities.

Required Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, visual communication, or related field. 
  • 3 years of experience and advanced knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. 
  • 3 years of experience in creating high-end print publications with strong understanding of typography, print layout and print production. 
  • 3 years of experience designing in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Preferred Experience:

  • BA in Graphic Design. 
  • 4-7 years of experience and advanced knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. 
  • 4-7 years of experience in creating high-end print publications, understanding typography, print layout and print production. 
  • 4-7 years designing in Microsoft PowerPoint. 
  • 6+ years of results driven graphic design experience. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of UX design for mobile a plus. 
  • Photography skills a plus.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all team members.

  • Starting Salary: $60K - $68K Annually (Depending on qualifications)
