The Graphic Production Designer is responsible for the design and production of graphic elements for Marcus Hotels & Resorts. Production includes but is not limited to: ads (print and online), collateral, (brochures, rate cards, rack cards, direct mail, etc.), promotional materials, restaurant menus, flyers, signage, emails. websites and other digital and online media. The qualified candidate needs to be highly motivated, have the ability to meet and exceed deadlines, work with grace under pressure, and have a positive working relationship with MHR Associates, property managers and agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the creation and production of marketing materials for internal clients within established timelines.
  • Design and order printed materials, web-related graphics and advertising.
  • Work with established templates set by agency and brand teams.
  • Create templates and guidelines for MHR hotels, restaurants and other business units
  • Assist with the supervision and coordination of outside vendors: production schedules, bids and mechanical specifications.
  • Manage time allocated to each project.
  • Maintain and update archive of images, photos, videos and work products.
  • Ensure brand integrity is maintained as well as adhere to brand standards set by both our hotel franchisors and the standards for each restaurant/outlet set by senior management.
  • Other duties as assigned or as needed to create signature experiences for our guest.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to consult with project team(s) and/or internal client(s) to take the need and translate it into compelling creative content
  • Represent the department in the role of production designer/design consultant when called upon to advise on options, budget, and deadline considerations.
  • Strong technical skills including print, web, digital, email, gif, etc.
  • Knowledge of standard graphic design programs
  • Knowledge and use of presentations and reporting programs including but not limited to Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, Keynote, Prezi
  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts
  • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of composition, color, typeface selection, and other fundamentals of design.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of prepress, printing and digital processes
  • Good working knowledge of photography and copy writing.
  • Ensure that the MHR and other premium brand standards of quality and creativity are reflected consistently in all materials.
  • Maintain strong archival system and processing for all work products
  • Check preliminary and final proofs for errors and make necessary corrections
  • Review printer estimates/bids and select most cost effective option
  • Excellent visual representation and creative skills (ability to design graphical images to compliment content and/or explain instructional concepts)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
  • Good project management skills and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain understanding of current technologies or practices through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional conferences, workshops, and groups.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills (ability to consider the costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.)
  • Ability to take direction well, and work with templates established by agency or other brand sources

MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least five years of experience as a graphic designer with proven graphic skills
  • Current with industry leading software and Adobe Creative Cloud technologies (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) as well as thorough knowledge of computer programs on Mac and PC: i.e. MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook/emailExcellent writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills
  • Creative and excellent problem solving skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to meet multiple deadlines
  • High level of comfort using computers and the internet is required

EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Past experience as a graphic designer for at least five years
  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, art or communication is preferred
