1. Knowledge of and experience with current educational methods and strategies; learner-centered instruction, active learning, assessment, evaluation; collaborative techniques; and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
2. Skilled in the use educational technology and alternative delivery methods to deliver high-quality instruction (i.e., online, hybrid, and accelerated course formats, course software such as Blackboard, video, Telepresence, etc).
3. Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds and persons with physical and/or learning disabilities.
4. Skill in oral and written communications.
5. Ability to interact with business, industry, other educational institutions, and government agencies to establish partnerships.
6. Ability to demonstrate and teach image-based creative solutions in a variety of media.
7. Ability to demonstrate and teach strong conceptual skills and possess a compelling, sophisticated aesthetic.
8. Demonstrated expertise with various media environments including, but not limited to information architecture, user experience, print and collateral design, and integrated campaigns.
9. Demonstrated proficiency in and application of Adobe Creative Cloud, with a thorough knowledge of how the programs work together to produce art for digital and/or print media. Hands-on experience with motion and interactive software a plus.
10. Demonstrated expertise and skill in several of the following: graphic design; typography; branding/integrated campaign development; print media design/production; image making; color theory; digital illustration; web page design (HTML,CSS, content management systems); interactive design; marketing/social media; broad media experience.
11. Demonstrated experience in areas such as marketing, entrepreneurism, textile design, environment design, storyboarding, traditional drawing and painting.
12. Ability to adapt to new and emerging technologies and incorporate them into the curriculum.
13. Experience with new technologies is a plus (web design, animation, interactive media, social media, digital photography, digital video, streaming video, learning modules, app design).
14. Demonstrated flexibility and versatility, with an ability to teach a variety of subjects and levels in the program and related certificates.
15. Knowledge of art history, especially as it relates to design, illustration and advertising.
16. Ability to develop curriculum, including identification of competencies, development of learning activities, and assessment tools.
17. Ability to instruct learners of diverse ages, backgrounds, and experiences.
