The Communications Intern will contribute to a variety of corporate communications initiatives, including internal communications, public relations, and brand communications projects. Duties include writing, developing communications plans, keeping apprised of current events that inform content and other special projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.

Education:

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English or another relevant field, required

Experience:

  • Experience with online and traditional communication mediums, preferred
  • Business writing experience, preferred; either in an internship role or class curriculum
  • Exposure to communications and public relations through student organizations or professional organizations, including the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), preferred

Software:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced knowledge of Word required and PowerPoint skills, preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and content management systems, preferred

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong written communication and editing skills with an understanding of grammar and AP Style guidelines
  • Capable of writing in various styles to address different objectives and audiences
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Creative individual who knows how to grab readers’ attention and works to bring new ideas to the team
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Exceptional project management skills: ability to effectively handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
