Internal Communications & EDI Support Specialist

We have an exciting new position as Internal Communications & Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Support Specialist. The Specialist will be responsible for managing and executing internal communication strategies, programs, and tactics. The individual in this role will oversee the planning, writing and delivery of timely, relevant, and compelling content to help drive awareness, engagement, and a sense of connection to the organization’s mission, vision, values and key strategic priorities. Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Development Officer, the individual will work closely with the Human Resources Director and Director of Marketing & Communications to ensure that internal and external messaging are aligned and coordinated.

Additionally, the Specialist will be an ambassador and steward for SHFB’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy and the organization’s environment of open communication. The Specialist will use their skills to work with internal teams and collaborators to support the planning and launch of innovative projects via communications and processes that align with our commitment to EDI.

Required Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience with professional writing, editing and delivery in an internal communications role. 
  • Previous experience in an EDI-focused role or strong understanding of the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization. 
  • Ability to successfully pass background check.

Preferred Education/Experience 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. 
  • Related project management experience. 
  • Knowledge of change management practices and methodologies. 
  • Experience initiating, driving, and delivering people-related change management programs, earning trust, and translating research and best practices into action. 
  • Experience presenting information that persuades, influences, educates, and enhances understanding at all levels §
  • Experience working with community-based, nonprofit organizations. 
  • Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization.

Salary Range: 

$58,700 - $70,400
