The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. The Internal Communications Manager oversees the development and implementation of internal communications messaging strategies for Allina Health’s business units or corporate functions. This individual works with communications staff to align key campaigns, message strategies and leverage opportunities appropriately. The communications manager will work in collaboration with external communications on issues management at the local or system level (e.g., risk/strike/media/reputation issues, etc.). This individual is accountable to develop and oversee structures and processes that help the team and key stakeholders prioritize communications requests, key campaigns, executive messaging and more. Lastly, the internal communications manager oversees the management of key local and/or systemwide communications channels. This position reports to the director of internal communications and has significant interaction with executive leadership in the business units and/or system office functions.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications or marketing

Qualification/Skills:

  • Minimum eight years of experience in employee/internal communication/change management communications 
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills and business acumen 
  • Ability to influence and build credibility with executive leadership for messaging and communications strategies 
  • Relationship-oriented; able to effectively create and deliver compelling and clear presentations 
  • Experience in project management and counseling teams (communications and partners) to deliver informed, measurable and strategic communication plans 
  • Proven track record managing multiple projects and tight deadlines 
  • Strong writing skills in simplifying complex materials 
  • Strong organizational, project management, problem solving abilities 
  • Comfortable leading change and developing strategies and communication solutions for a wide variety of scenarios 
  • Motivated, engaging, self-starting and influential 
  • Strong word processing and spreadsheet skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Work Schedule:

  • This is a M-F position, 40 hours/week.
