Position Overview:

The Communications Manager will be an important voice for the Trimble Transportation. The ideal candidate will work with leaders at all levels and be inspired by being a part of a dynamic, growing organization. The Communications Manager will drive and execute an employee communications program to connect internal audiences and acquired brands to the company’s purpose and strategy. This person will establish a cadence for communications and protocol around internal communications to ensure company-wide programs and change initiatives are effectively and efficiently communicated to all geographies and levels of the organization.

The role will help impact the overall company engagement through bi-weekly Newsletters, quarterly meetings, other meetings with C-level executives, monthly executive meetings, and anything else deemed important. Additionally, the internal communications manager will play a key role in creating an employer brand campaign to find, attract, engage and nurture future talent. This person reports to the VP of Marketing, with a line to the Vice President of Human Resources. The role is hands-on: 30% strategic and 70% tactical.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive an internal communications strategy aligned with business objectives to increase employee engagement and overall company performance 
  • Develop an ongoing communications cadence to communicate vision, mission and purpose as well as employee alignment to Trimble's strategic business plans and priorities 
  • Establish and formalize internal communication vehicles and processes, which may include newsletters, e-mail communications, events, intranet, signage, social media, video and others to be defined 
  • Develop recruitment marketing strategy, metrics and messaging; execute in collaboration with Human Resources to best leverage social media, community relations, SEO and content marketing, recruiting events, among others 
  • Use innovative, creative approaches and continuous improvement to research, write, and distribute company news and stories; manage editorial calendar and work with internal stakeholders to deliver consistent, timely information across departments 
  • Organize and develop content for 8-10 all-employee meetings, both in-person and virtual for remote workforce 
  • Draft messages, presentations and scripts for senior executives presenting to internal groups 
  • Establish metrics to assess effectiveness of employee engagement; ongoing implementation of improved methods based on employee feedback 
  • Be a driver of culture and an advocate of company values 
  • Work closely with HR on employee communication and engagement initiatives 
  • Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of internal and/or employee communications experience 
  • Expertise in change management or business transformation communication 
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to form a point of view and communicate it to all levels clearly and concisely through multiple communication vehicles 
  • Ability to capture the authentic voice of leadership in written communications and partner with them to deliver a vision 
  • Technical experience managing a company intranet site, i.e. Google sites 
  • Strong project management skills with keen attention to detail 
  • Outstanding relationship-building and customer service skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment 
  • 10% travel

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field 
  • Proficiency in Marketo 
  • Have bias towards execution
