If you’re passionate about internal communications—including strategic communications and multimedia content—this could be the role for you.

As Barr’s Internal Communications Specialist, you’ll play a central role in fostering the company’s engaged, collaborative, and high-performing staff culture. You’ll serve as the primary strategist and communicator for major company initiatives, and you’ll work with the CEO, corporate communications director, and other senior leaders to develop executive communications programs that inform and inspire employees.

You’ll work closely with engineers, scientists, administrative and business leaders, as well asCommunications team colleagues, to develop and share compelling stories in a range of media, including videos, presentations, graphics, and intranet pages. You’ll create communications about client projects; company strategies, initiatives, and priorities; efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and more.

The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate outstanding writing and editing skills; experience creating and implementing strategic communications plans; proficiency in graphic design and multimedia content development; and strong organization and client-service skills.

In this role, you’ll work closely with Barr’s close-knit, fun, and growing Communications team, which works collaboratively across offices and geographies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in a communications position, preferably as part of a corporate communications team, creative/PR agency, or engineering/environmental consulting firm 
  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, marketing, or related field 
  • Working knowledge of graphic design and document design principles 
  • Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel software 
  • Proven experience creating compelling content in a variety of formats such as intranet articles and pages, presentations, video scripts, feature-length articles, and social media content 
  • Experience working with content management systems 
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills 
  • Advanced ability to serve as a strategic communications advisor and lead through influence 
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and project-management skills 
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship 
  • Acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internal communications experience 
  • Experience managing an intranet, intranet pages, and/or intranet content 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 platforms, including SharePoint online and MS Teams 
  • Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and/or MS Project software 
  • Document design and graphic design skills 
  • Video production and editing experience 
  • Photography experience
