In this role, the Internal Communications Specialist reports to our Director of Internal Communications and serves as the lead writer for the day-to-day content of Worklife, Room & Board’s Intranet platform. They are responsible for the editorial content of Worklife by partnering with staff members from all levels of our company to uncover and share stories that highlight company news and celebrate the people and culture of Room & Board.

In addition, the Internal Communications Specialist will also partner with our Director of Internal Communications in developing communication strategies to ensure our Central Campus and company-wide communications are engaging and effective.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage the Worklife editorial calendar and identify, plan and write content for Worklife. This can range from company news to celebration stories, staff member profiles, sustainability and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion updates and more. Your goal is to ensure that Worklife is the go-to place for engaging and relevant information.
  • Update content for site pages on Worklife as needed. Partner with the Technology team to ensure functionality and performance of Worklife. Be a company-wide point person for content updates.
  • Oversee the analysis of analytics for Worklife, to track success and measure communications effectiveness. Use this input to improve the timeliness and quality of content.
  • Provide communications support when needed to key business areas – i.e., partnering with our Wellness Manager to review and edit communications around Open Enrollment and other key efforts.
  • Interview staff members and develop content highlighting Room & Board’s Cause + Community efforts, where we highlight our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts. This can include developing blog posts, Worklife stories, PowerPoint slides and more.
  • Serve as the point person for drafting internal communications related to Room & Board’s Central Campus events, activities and announcements.
  • Provide additional internal communications support as needed.

The skills, experiences, and qualifications you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5+ years of journalism, corporate/employee communications, public relations, internal communications or other related experience. 
  • Excellent communications skills. The ideal candidate is an outstanding writer, proofreader and copy editor. Knowledge of AP Style. 
  • Willingness to learn and implement the Room & Board brand voice throughout our communications. 
  • Ability to partner effectively with colleagues; willingness to work with and develop relationships across teams. The ideal candidate attributes include authenticity, curiosity, trust and understanding. 
  • Should have an interest in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Sustainability efforts. 
  • Experience with or working knowledge of programs and applications such as Microsoft Office 365, including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online. 
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines and excellent attention to detail. 
  • The mindset to position Worklife as the “go-to” spot for news, people and culture stories at Room & Board. Success is finding and writing engaging and interesting stories that staff members take time out of their day to read. 
  • A desire to deepen our communications with our staff members and providing them the resources they need to know about business trends and organizational change and updates. 
  • This role is a key part of our small but mighty internal communications team. Success is having a person in this role who embraces their work and understands that each day might be different. They should be excited about the opportunity to play a key role in continuing to elevate our internal communications and engage our staff members.

Salary: $70,000-$75,000 / yr.
