TURNER, a full-service public relations and digital communications agency specializing in travel, outdoor, wellness, lifestyle, and spirits brands, is seeking a Junior Account Executive with a passion for storytelling and media relations for the industries we serve. Candidates must have 1-2 years of media relations experience with demonstrated results. While we are currently working remotely, we anticipate being in-person later this year and therefore this candidate must be based in Chicago or Denver.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports daily activities for 6-8 designated national and international accounts 
  • Serves as a day-to-day resource for media contacts, contributing 50 percent of time to proactive media relations 
  • Assists with development and implementation of all PR strategic plan initiatives, under supervision 
  • Understands and prioritizes the objectives of each client; anticipates needs in advance 
  • Develops and maintains solid relationships with journalists, bloggers and social media influencers, identifying ways to integrate social networking into outreach strategies 
  • Monitor, track, and report coverage for an assigned portfolio of accounts 
  • Prepares meeting agendas, notes and reports 
  • Writes client collateral, which includes but is not limited to: news releases, media alerts, photo captions, media pitches, bios and fact sheets 
  • Assists with client relations through meetings, conference calls, events and general contact 
  • Assists with planning client media familiarization tours, as needed 
  • Stay abreast of current industry news and trends

Our ideal candidate posses’:

  • 1-3 years of communications experience in public relations/media relations; agency experience preferred 
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with an epic attention to detail 
  • A voracious appetite for reading/media consumption: magazine, newspapers, blogs, podcasts – you scan or listen to them all, with attention to trends and how outlets are structuring their content 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • The ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment 
  • The ability to anticipate team and client needs and proactively assist 
  • Solid project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple accounts 
  • Proficiency in AP Style Familiarity with Cision, BurrellesLuce, TrendKite and cloud-based tools A proven understanding of social media platforms and content across Tik-Tok, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram 
  • An interest in or familiarity with influencers, understanding how to research and find relevant ones for account needs 
  • BA or BS in public relations, journalism, communications or any field with a strong emphasis on writing and communication
