The designer works closely with the Enthusiast Brand (ENT) art and editorial teams to ensure layouts are produced effectively and efficiently according to brand standards and overall program look and feel. Has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with priorities that may shift due to changing deadline requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Concepts and designs layouts according to brand templates and styles. Updates and maintains master templates, styles and branded elements. 
  • Responsible for producing print-ready layouts, making design revisions, copy edits, and preparing files for final production. Works with ad and production teams to ensure proper pagination and partial ad placement. 
  • Works with art directors to plan, design and execute select pages of books, magazines and SIPs. 
  • Assists AD with photo research, selection and stock image requests. Seeks out other image resources to enhance content when necessary. 
  • Prepares images for color correction and digital proofing. 
  • Prepares files for iPad and other digital program extensions, including adjusting design specs, inputting edits and preparing files for release. 
  • Assists art director and associate creative director as needed to keep all ENT programs on schedule. 
  • Participates with editorial team to brainstorm and plan future content, team meetings 
  • Collaborates with ENT design staff to develop new ideas and efficiencies
REQUIREMENTS:
  • At least 1-3 years of production artist experienced in a fast-paced publishing environment. 
  • Well-organized, with a strong attention to detail and good problem-solving, time management, and communication skills. 
  • Quick and detail-oriented, with strong layout design capabilities 
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and MS Office. 
  • Knowledge of Adobe DPS a plus.
  • Understanding of all phases of design, layout and production 
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with changing priorities. 
  • Strong interpersonal communications and collaboration skills.
