Job Purpose as a Major Gifts Officer:

You’re a people centric communicative leader who supports and leads the team by caring personally and challenging professionally. You create excitement around a culture of improvement and a culture of why, making sure your team always has what they need.

Schedule:

Full-time hours with occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events.

Location/Remote Capabilities:

Once on-boarded, the person in this position will have the opportunity to work remotely for the bulk of their time. Access to reliable internet, ability to prioritize work independently, and foster relationships while working in a hybrid (remote and in-person) environment required. Must live in or have easy access to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and be available for frequent face-to-face interactions in Minneapolis/St. Paul and greater Minnesota regions.

What you will be doing as a Major Gift Officer:

Leadership - Own outcomes, work collaboratively, and hold self and team accountable. Model the coaching approach to leadership and participate in first teams.

Strategy - Understand and commit to the requirement of excellence, continuous improvement, and department and organizational goals. Develop, propose, and implement innovative strategies that focus on mid-level leadership, major, and transformational gifts.

Relationship Building - Make meaningful contact with donors and prospects to increase support, nurture donor loyalty, and foster personal relationships.

Communication - Listen, pay attention, and be a responsible steward of information. Distill and convey information in a clear, complete, and timely manner in alignment with organizational messaging.

Process - Manage pipeline of major-level donors, sustaining gifts, and identify prospects for operating and capital campaign support. Responsible for tracking major-level giving prospects and donors and documenting their cultivation and solicitation activities.

Support - Lead the team, consulting experts as needed. Aid in the development and execution of strategy, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Work collaboratively on communication materials, budgets, and revenue expectations. Reinforce the prospect relationship continuum.

Culture - Foster an open and inclusive work environment by modeling AHS’s behaviors and values, consistent with the vision and mission of the organization. Champion a culture of safety and promote meaningful volunteer engagement.

What we are looking for:

Experience - Minimum of 3 years of major gift experience, developing strategies for major gift solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship, closing gifts of $10,000+. Desire to lead required.

Computer Skills - Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Adaptability - Ability to work in a professional and positive manner with high attention to detail in a variety of situations.

Communication - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, must have ability to work as a member of the team and partner collaboratively with external and internal customers and departments.

Physical & Emotional Capabilities - Must be able to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in an animal shelter environment, including the use of euthanasia.

Pay: $65,000-75,000 based on experience.
