The Ascension Wisconsin Foundation is growing, and hiring a Major Gift Officer.

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for developing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors focusing on or St. Francis and Franklin hospitals. This position has direct impact on the organization’s reputation among donors, community, and patients, as well as direct impact on Ascension Wisconsin’s financial and operational performance.

Essential functions and core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee a portfolio of 100-150 donors and prospects. 
  • Work with Chief Philanthropy Officer to develop and execute annual and multi-year major gifts (gifts over $5,000) totaling a minimum of $250,000 annually. 
  • Participate in each step of the donor pipeline including: identification, qualification, cultivation, request for support, follow up, stewardship and recognition. 
  • Develop individual donor strategies and goals to renew and upgrade donor gifts. 
  • Partner with Foundation Communications team to identify and develop donor collateral and materials. 
  • Collaborate with department and program teams to enhance relationships and create greater fundraising and outreach possibilities. 
  • Participate in department portfolio review process and be a partner in maintaining an organized and accurate donor database by tracking donor contacts and updating donor information as appropriate. 
  • Manage monthly reports as required by Chief Philanthropy Officer that accurately reflect portfolio activity and performance. 
  • Participate in community relations activities as directed by Chief Philanthropy Officer to promote positive community relationships that fulfill the Ascension mission. 
  • Build relationships and work in partnership with hospital leaders and key stakeholders (board members, volunteers, etc.). 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Philanthropy Officer.

Basic Job Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Demonstrated experience, success and progressive responsibility in major gifts fundraising with a minimum of three years experience. 
  • Ability to set goals strategically and oversee execution. 
  • High level of discretion and ethical approach to fundraising. 
  • Proven ability to interact and influence philanthropic leaders. 
  • Experience motivating and managing high-profile volunteer leadership and senior executives. 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various internal and external constituents. 
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. 
  • Proficiency in donor database (Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred), G-Suite, and other computer skills as required. 
  • Valid driver's license and insurance for out-of-office travel as required by the position.
